Dwi Hanto received a sarjana sains (S.Si) degree from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Solo, Indonesia, in 2008; and a master sains (M.Si.) degree from the University of Indonesia (UI), Jakarta, in 2012; both in Physics. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 2020 from Kanazawa University, Japan.

From 2008 to 2021, he worked at the Research Center for Physics, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI, Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia), Indonesia.  He is now with the Research Center for Photonics, National Research and Innovation Agency Republic of Indonesia (BRIN, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional). 

His research interests include light detection and ranging (LiDAR), optical fiber sensor, fiber Bragg grating sensor, optical sensing, optical ranging, photonics system, and LabVIEW programming.
