ABOUT COLLEGE NOW
College Now is a free program designed to prepare New York City’s public high school students for college. College Now gives you the opportunity to take classes for college credit and participate in pre-college courses or workshops. Textbooks, and tutoring are also provided as part of the program.
College Now is not just a continuation of high school. It pays to know what’s ahead. By taking part in College Now you will become acquainted with the demands of college life before you get there. Research shows that this preparation does help; students who participate in College Now tend to do better than their counterparts once they are in college!
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
College Now participation is open to all New York City public high school students. The program’s dual enrollment offerings are geared toward 11th and 12th grade students but there are limited opportunities for 10th graders.. For most college-credit courses, students must meet certain eligibility requirements, most of which are based on exam scores (PSAT, SAT, Regents) and/or GPA (see below).

Enrollment in College-Credit Courses:
College-credit courses are generally for 11th and 12th grade students! Most CUNY colleges expect you to meet at least one of the following benchmarks. Please note that some colleges may require even higher scores and/or sitting for a placement exam.
*11th and 12th graders with a high school GPA of 80+: may apply for any college credit course offered by their high school’s partner CUNY campus program
*11th and 12th graders with a high school GPA of 70+: may apply for some college credit courses offered by programs at CUNY community colleges
*Rising 11th and rising 12th graders: are eligible to apply for summer college credit programs
*10th graders with a high school GPA of 70+: may apply for non-credit college and career awareness courses, student development courses, and a limited number of gateway college credit courses in select programs
*11th graders, 12th graders, and some 10th graders: have several options for college-level math courses based on math regents scores and their high school math GPA
*Some courses may have different and/or additional eligibility requirements at individual campuses (i.e., higher GPA or subject specific GPA)
