Your inventory items, rooms, attachments, and app settings are stored locally on your device. If you never sign in, your data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, except when you personally use an AI feature (see "AI features" below).
Cloud backup is off by default. It turns on when you sign in from Settings > Back Up to Cloud. You can sign in with Google, with Apple, or with an email address and password.
While you are signed in, the following is uploaded to Google Firebase and stored under an account folder that only you can access: your inventory items and room data (Cloud Firestore), and your photos and file attachments (Firebase Storage).
Photo and attachment upload happens automatically whenever you are signed in. It is part of cloud backup, not a separate setting. If you sign out, new items and attachments stay on your device only. Deleting an attachment in the app also deletes the uploaded copy.
DwellKeep's AI features are powered by the Anthropic Claude API, a third-party service. Every AI feature is started by you tapping a button. None of them run in the background.
What is sent depends on the feature:
Receipt Scanner - the single photo you selected
Item Valuation - the single photo you selected
Photo item detection - the single photo you selected
Inventory Assistant - your entire inventory, plus your question
Claim Assist - your entire inventory, plus the claim details you enter
For the Inventory Assistant and Claim Assist, "your entire inventory" means, for every item you have saved: item name, room, category, brand, model, serial number, estimated value, purchase date, warranty expiration date, the number of photos attached, and any notes you wrote. Your photos themselves are not sent for these two features, only the count. This is what allows the assistant to answer questions across your whole home and to draft a claim summary.
Anthropic processes this data to generate a response and does not use it to train their models. DwellKeep does not send your name, email address, or account identifiers to Anthropic.
The free tier includes 5 AI uses per calendar month. Beyond that, AI features require a subscription.
DwellKeep uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and error diagnostics so that faults can be found and fixed. These reports include device and app state information. They do not include your inventory contents.
Subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat and by the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat receives your subscription status and an anonymous identifier. It does not receive your inventory. DwellKeep never sees or stores your payment card details; those are handled entirely by Apple or Google.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We do not show advertising, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
We do not access your inventory contents for our own purposes.
Stop cloud backup: sign out in Settings. Data already backed up can be deleted by deleting your account.
Delete your account and cloud data: Settings > Delete Account. This removes your Firestore data and uploaded attachments.
Use the app entirely offline: never sign in, and do not use AI features.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Email jandastoresllc@gmail.com and we will respond.
DwellKeep is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If what the app does with your data changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change.
