Senior AI/Algorithms Engineering Manager

KLA Corporation

About Me

Since December 2020, I work at the AI & Modeling Center of Excellence at KLA Corporation in Ann Arbor, MI. KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. As Senior AI/Algorithms Engineering Manager, I lead teams of talented engineers developing algorithms for our current and future products.

From 2014 to 2020, I was Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia. My lab focused on image reconstruction, processing, and analysis, such as fast and motion-robust magnetic resonance imaging for cardiac and body-imaging applications, and enhancement and visualization of optical microscope images for neuroscience. I had courtesy appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Radiology and Medical Imaging.

From 2012 until 2014, I was a post-doctoral fellow supported by an NIH National Research Service Award (F32 EB015914) at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, where I worked with Jeffrey Fessler and Douglas Noll. In June 2012 and June 2008, I received my Ph.D. and S.M. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I worked with Vivek Goyal (now at Boston University). Earlier, I received my B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with honors from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2006.

I am a senior member of IEEE. As a student, I was inducted to both Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.

Research Interests

  • Computational imaging, including light microscopy and biomedical modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging

  • Signal processing and estimation methods for model-based and data-driven reconstruction and image processing and analysis

Education and Outreach

  • I taught several undergraduate and graduate courses related to signal processing and biomedical imaging.

  • I also lead a number of outreach efforts and professional service activities.
