Meet Matt

I'm Matthew Duvall, a deeply cynical and, paradoxically, naively optimistic Gen X'er. I live in Annville, Pennsylvania, with my wife Natalie and our five(!) children. I'm a senior lecturer in the Learning Sciences & Technologies program in the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. I was born in Pennsylvania, but lived in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Indiana for periods of time in my young life before returning to the best state (commonwealth) in the nation after I met the love of my life in a creative fiction writing program. 

I've been involved in politics since I was old enough to vote, and actively involved in Lebanon County politics for over a decade. I'm running for office for a number of reasons, which I'll detail more via my substack and social media channels. But here are the main ones:

• Democracy works better when voters have options

• I heard that any bozo can run for office - I'm testing it out to see if that's true

• I want to encourage all Lebanon County voters to get informed and get involved in politics

• I believe that our current system favors those who are powerful and well-connected...but that government should serve everyone, no matter their status

My Priorities

• Empower workers by strengthening unions, establishing guidelines for part-time workers' scheduling, and making family leave the rule rather than the exception

• Improve health care by separating health insurance from employment and addressing the changes to Medical Assistance that negatively impact Pennsylvanians

• Protect voters by ensuring that mail in voting remains in effect and advocating to make it easier - not harder - for eligible voters to participate in our already safe and secure election process

• Support education by enacting universal preschool, tuition free community college for Pennsylvania residents, and low-cost worker training programs
