January 2026 Newsletter

(dates and time ET)

Hi Star Babies,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! đŸ’„đŸŒŸđŸŽ‰

And it’s a new year in more ways than one.

According to the Gregorian Calendar, the global standard used by the world today, 2026 is a Universal Year Number One, a time for the world to shed the past and start anew. (2026=2+0+2+6=10; 10=1+0=1)

In Universal Number One, the individual counts, that’s you. You count this year because you are setting the tone for your future as the restraints of your past are slowly crumbling, ushering in a new tomorrow. Like a pebble tossed into a pond, as you begin anew, your energy sends ripples outward which will affect your renewal and the well-being of those around you.

Then the ‘butterfly effect’, takes over.

This term is attributed to the discovery by mathematician and meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz who, in 1960, after studying weather patterns, noted that tiny changes in his calculations could lead to vastly different weather predictions. From there it was proposed that the flapping of a butterfly’s wings in one part of the world could lead to a hurricane in another part of the world.

So, flap your wings, my friends! Spread those ripples! (Mixed metaphors but I couldn’t resist!)

When my clients are in a Personal Year One, I suggest they put a note on their bathroom mirrors that says, “I come first this year!” so that it’s the first thing they see in the morning and the last thing they see at night. Repetition embeds messages in the subconscious mind which leads to changes of attitude and behavior.

The world is posting a message on its global mirror this year: The individual comes first!

With a simple click on my website at dustybunker.com you can start on your journey to the stars with The Beginner’s Guide to Astrology: Class Is in Session. The simple instructions written in a conversational style make it easy and fun to learn. Your birth chart available upon request.

The first day of 2026 starts with mental Mercury at 0° Capricorn. Mercury in Capricorn ♑ is an ambitious serious mind which can focus on an idea or project for extended periods of time as it climbs the managerial ladder to success. It will remain there until January 20th.

On January 3rd, under the Full Moon at 13° Cancer ♋ we find the Sun, Venus, and Mars in a tight conjunction in Capricorn (with Mercury trailing behind). These four planets are quite serious therefore your Capricorn house needs thoughtful planning.

The Sun shines its light on a powerful Mars in Capricorn ♑whose organization and discipline and decisive action make Capricorn the most powerful placement of Mars in the zodiac. Aided by a dignified Venus in Capricorn who is attracted to status and wealth, these three conjoined planets are setting your table for success this year. So, hop to it! Your NewYear’s resolutions can manifest in a bountiful feast in 2026.

(Perhaps I should use a better metaphor than food? You’ll know what I mean when you read about Jupiter, coming up shortly.)

In this Full Moon chart, 🌕 Mercury squares Neptune (out of sign). (I described this aspect in November’s Newsletter
mental fogginess, etc.) but this shouldn’t last long with the driven organized Mars. And don’t forget Mercury is also in Capricorn ♑.

These planets will eventually catch up and oppose big boy Jupiter (currently in the sign Cancer ♋for its one-year journey).

BTW: if Jupiter were hollowed out, 1,000 Earth’s would fit inside!

Numerology and Your Future: the Predictive Power of Numbers, 2nd edition, published in 2019) reveals a world shifting repeating cycle that occurs from 2025 to 2033 which is happeing now. Also included how to use your number cycles to plan ahead.

Because Retrograde Jupiter, the planet of optimism, opposes these Capricorn planets the first half of the month, be careful of overconfidence, missing the details, and excessive behavior.

Opposition the authoritative Sun, Jupiter can be positive, imbuing confidence as long as you’re not overbearing; when it’s opposite Mars, you believe you can handle anything so be careful you do not exhaust yourself; and opposite Venus, watch your thirst for the expensive and the beautiful.

Venus, which BTW rules sweets, may exaggerate your consumption of fine chocolate, cakes, pies, tarts, eclairs, bear paws 🎂🍭đŸȘ🍹🍩
you name it.

Therefore, around January 7th for a week or so, watch your wallet. And your waistline. Laying around popping bon bons will create an excess of inches around your middle that you may already be diligently working on because it’s one of your New Year’s Resolutions.

With this Jupiter opposition, relationships on all levels will be highlighted. Oppositions require compromise, it’s you and the ‘other’ (person, contract, job). Work on how you can make peace so you can start your new life in a Universal One Year free from stress, especially when Jupiter goes Direct in March.

With a simple click, the classic Numerology and the Divine Triangle (co-authored with Faith Javane) can be yours. This blueprint of your life synthesizes numerology, astrology and the Tarot for the first time. The perfect book for a lazy January month of recuperation.

The success of a Full Moon 🌕is the result of the seeds you planted under the previous New Moon, which in this case was at 28 Sagittarius ♐on December 19th. As I’ve mentioned before, the Full Moon is when you ‘get it’. You find how effective you have been each month as a lunar gardener.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, January’s Full Moon is called the Full Wolf Moon because in the deep snows of winter, hungry wolf packs howled outside Indian villages. Sometimes it was called the Old Moon or the Moon After Yule.

Now, you know I must explain this

Yule is a winter festival associated with the winter solstice which falls between December 20 and 23 in the Northern Hemisphere. During the Christianization of the Germanic people, it may have merged with Christmas. Many languages use ‘Yule” to describe Christmas and the season of Christmastide (known as the 12 days of Christmas).

There will be a quiz

Returning to Jupiter who is now Retrograde in the sign Cancer ♋. You are now in a review process of those plans that you were considering last spring in your Cancer ruled house. You have until March 10, 2026, to finish that review. Then you will know if you have a green light to move forward with confidence.

Jupiter visits Cancer once every 12 years so ‘make hay while the sun shines’.

BTW. What were you doing around 2013 and 2014, the last time Jupiter visited your Cancer ♋ ruled house? You know the saying, history repeats itself. Not the same event, of course, but it’s the same season so you can expect a particular kind of weather pattern.

Released from the materialistic restraints of Capricorn ♑on January 17th, Venus enters sparkling Aquarius ♒through February 10th when you are attracted to unusual quirky types of people; romantic hookups can be sudden however Aquarius requires intellectual stimulation. That mental vibration is part of the attraction.

(Two days later, on January 19th at 11:04pm, Venus connects passionately with Pluto! 💖This could be an evening to remember. Venus wants love and Pluto is intense and sometimes karmic. Follow that thread to your liking.)

On January 18th, welcome the New Moon 🌙 at 29° Capricorn ♑. This is a most unusual chart with Pluto at 3° Aquarius ♒as the engine pulling Venus at 1° Aquarius, the Moon and Sun at 28° Capricorn ♑, Mercury and Mars at 26° Capricorn ♑.

These 6 planets are conjunct. As a group they are trine (flowing to) Uranus, and they are sextile (in easy conversation with) Saturn/Neptune. Out of the traditional ‘planets’ in your chart, these nine are in a 5-degree orb of each other degree wise!

This New Moon chart is filled with powerful conjunctions, sextiles and trines, all vibrating at the start line, ready to help you accomplish your ‘something’, whatever that is.

The lone planet Jupiter stands out as if the big boy is thumbing a ride at 18° of Cancer♋. However, Jupiter does sesquiquintle Neptune! An aspect that allows a link between two worlds, when empathy and sensitivity allow you to expand beyond the physical into a Neptunian world of creativity and dreams.

A tip: A few nights before this New Moon, ask your subconscious for a dream. Reinforce that request for a few nights and keep a pen and pad of paper handy. Wait quietly when you awaken so the dream can materialize then write it down. Don’t wait till later because the nuances will be lost by then.

Your potential is waiting to be planted. Nurture it over the next two weeks during the growth of the New Moon towards the next Full Moon 🌕 which will be on February 1st at 13° Leo ♌. Then you shine brightly under a Leo Full Moon.

Astrology’s Hidden Aspects: Quintiles and Sesquiquintiles, reveals the importance of the 72° quintile and the 108° sesquiquintile which the Egyptians called the “sacred golden bowls”. Gathered through thirty years of research into sacred geometry, Masonic manuscripts, religious texts, Egyptian symbols and more, these aspects should be considered among the most important in the lexicon of astrology.

The day after the New Moon, the Sun enters the sign Aquarius ♒on the 19th. Look to your Aquarian house where that Venus/Pluto conjunction is now exact! (Remember the description a few paragraphs back. ‘Venus connects passionately with Pluto! This could be an evening to remember. Venus wants love and Pluto is intense and sometimes karmic. Follow that thread to your liking.’) Not that you needed a reminder about that!

The Sun is in Aquarius ♒for 30 days. This is the time every year when your Aquarius house activities take precedence because the Sun’s energy motivates you there. You need to sparkle during this period, let your hair down, dance like everyone is watching, connect with quirky people, find out what it’s like to be an Aquarian. You might as well, because everyone is going to notice you anyway.

On January 22nd, around Noon, Mercury conjuncts Pluto prompting serious thoughts, words and deeds.

Mars enters Aquarius ♒on January 23rd for the next 44 days in your Aquarian house stimulating the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Pluto at different intervals.

And on January 26th, Neptune finishes its 14-year transit through the sign Pisces and enters Aries ♈ (for the first time in about 164 years) where it will spend the next fourteen years. Neptune rules dreams, spirituality, and intuition; Aries is the pioneer setting off to find its own way. Aries rules the individual; it’s all about you.

You’re not going to accept the teaching of others, rather you are now motivated to search for a new spiritual path that reflects who you are. The courage of Aries ♈ teaches you to trust yourself, even when things feel foggy and uncertain, as you move towards the clear light of final clarity.

This journey is aided by practical Saturn which conjoins Neptune at 0° Aries on February 20th next month when, as noted in previous newsletters, old barriers begin collapse and you rise as the heroine on your new journey.

Humanity is on the brink of changes we’ve never experienced before. Change takes time. Each of us becomes the catalyst for this change.

Again, I suggest you look online for evolutionary astrologer Maurice Fernandez at mauricefernandez.com and read his amazing article “When Walls Collapse and Heroes Rise’ to read the extensive significance of the epochal change this aspect foretells.

And of course, Uranus is helping finish off the stoic traditional Capricornian ♑ attitude as it finishes its seven year transit through Taurus ♉and leads us into the sign Gemini ♊in April 2026 when we breathe the fresh air of revolutionary and unconventional thinking; when we are free to think for ourselves, when we begin to question rules that have been embedded in society for many years.

Look to your Gemini ♊ruled house to find out where you may stick your head out the window and yell, “I’m not going to take this anymore!”

That line comes from an old movie called ‘Network’ where Howard Beale (actor Peter Finch), upset with the situation in the world, yelled from the television screen to his viewers, “I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell. ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!!’”

Silence
are you thinking?

In spite of social crises, you can have some fun. If you choose, the last week or so of January ends with the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in the sign Aquarius ♒creating a sparkling week of passion, love, (remember Venus conjunct Pluto mentioned earlier), innovative thinking, and independence. Attend parties, go out with friends, circulate. New ideas abound.

With Saturn sextile Uranus creating a harmonious blend of stability, you have a sound base upon which you can build new ideas.

So, my friends, once again thank you for being there for me.

May the new year bring you love, peace, and joy.

Sending cosmic hugs to you all 💖💖💖
