Cool Stars 23 Splinter Session, Thursday, June 18, 2026
Registration for contributed-talks
The goal of this special session is to have solution-focussed discussions on some of the main issues we identify regarding the formation and evolution of dust around cool objects, and the connection to hydrodynamical and chemical modelling.
To foster this discussion, we invite you to submit an abstract for a short talk to present your current scientific activities related to the topic. Talks should be short pitches (3-5 minutes), designed to trigger thoughts and discussions that will be used as seeds for discussions during the session.
Rather than presenting final results, we want talks to focus on the questions/problems you are confronted with in your current research, or questions/problems you think the community should focus on in the future. The aim is to identify uncertainties and develop thoughts for solving them.
Contributed-talk format
The contributed-talks will be held during the first block, after the invited review talks. Each talk should be 3-5 minutes, supported by no more than four slides. Talking freely without slides is also accepted. Provide a basic introduction, but focus on the questions. Ideally provide a discussion point in the form of a final statement or question.
Contributed-talk submission
You can submit your talk in the following form. Provide a summary of the research you want to talk about, and the main question you want to raise.
We aim to get an even distribution between the three topics: hydrodynamical modelling, chemical modelling, and observations. We also want to provide junior researchers with a chance to present their thoughts and questions, and hence aim at an even geographical, seniority, and gender distribution. We therefore give the opportunity for you to provide your academic position, location, and gender.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding the talk format or the registration!
Deadline for submission: March 31, 2026
Announcement of accepted talks: By latest April 9 (before early-bird deadline)
From grains to galaxies - contributed-talk submission – Fill out form
All talks that are not accepted for a presentation can be included in a pre-session discussion. Please indicate if you want this for your talk.
Certificate: Some employers require employees to present talks to be allowed to participate in conferences. If required, we can provide a certificate explaining the format of this meeting and the contribution that is expected from the flash-talks.
