Durham Elected Officials

How to use this site & why?

All Durham residents have right to know how to participate in their local government. Whether a resident is concerned about bad roads, school re-openings, or the environment, they should feel comfortable and empowered to reach out to their local elected representatives to voice their concerns. Unlike national and state governments, local governments have the time and the obligation to hear directly from their constituents because they make decisions that directly impact residents' lives, e.g. sales tax, transportation, waste management, schools, and many more.

The city and county of Durham provides public information about their local government and elected officials, but this information is spread across many locations and is not user-friendly. This website seeks to solve this problem. Here you will find a tool divided into three parts.

First, Learn more about the importance of local government and the structure of this project by visiting the "Background & Purpose" page.

Second, review and explore maps from county and local data sources that describe where to vote and geographic areas that local officials are elected to represent.

Third, find the "who" "what" "when" and "where" for each office of local elected officials, including how to contact them.
