The Speakers

Jenn Barnes

 Emcee

I’m currently 34 years old and I live in the women’s Friendship House which is owned by Reality Ministries. I was diagnosed with Autism when I was very young. I lived in many places growing up because of my dad’s job. I was born in Washington, DC, and have lived in Weston, Connecticut, Hong Kong and here in Durham. I like to hang out with my friends, watch TV, read books, watch movies, play on my laptop and cellphone, go to plays, concerts, live comic shows, and sleep. I’m good with data entry. I like things being scheduled for me because that’s how my brain works. I love things that are really cute like babies and animals. I have a really great sense of humor and I love to cook.

Mary Evelyn Rider O'Neil

Mary Evelyn is a brilliant high school student. She loves to introduce you to her friends and loves to bring a beloved stuffed animal along with her when she visits her favorite places. She has shared her gift of singing at L’Arche NC events and enjoyed Cooking with Community. Mary Evelyn comes from a large family of active social justice advocates. You can catch Mary Evelyn with her mom and dad at protests advocating for a more peaceful world. One of Mary Evelyn's favorite sayings is BE KIND.
