I am a researcher and algorithm developer with expertise in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and signal/image processing. My experience spans both academia and industry.
I earned an M.Tech degree in Communication Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India, in 2012. In 2013, I began my Ph.D. in Signal and Image Processing at VIT, focusing on Image Fusion, and completed it in 2016.
After my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, for two years. During this time, I co-authored the book Image Fusion, funded by the National Science and Technology Academic Publications Fund of China (2019).
I then transitioned to industry, serving as an Algorithm Expert at Alibaba Group’s Innovation Center for one and a half years. In this role, I worked on complex research problems, including automatic checkout using deep learning and 3D object detection for autonomous driving using advanced 3D deep learning techniques. I also gained experience in visual 3D reconstruction with depth cameras, LiDAR sensors, and monocular cameras.
Subsequently, I pursued postdoctoral research at NTNU, Norway, supported by ERCIM and institute fellowships, before taking on the role of Research Scientist at SINTEF Industries.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Geospatial Science at the University of Gävle.
