Subhash with the NJ delegation at the Conference on National Affairs
Subhash Durbha is a recent graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School and is currently pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. From a young age, Subhash has been deeply committed to service, leadership, and advancing opportunities for his peers. Recognized on both national and local scales, he has served as a multi-year delegate for the Conference on National Affairs, been honored as the New Jersey Speech and Debate League Student of the Year, and helped secure funding for Hunterdon Central’s extracurricular and co-curricular programs. He also served as a state legislative officer for New Jersey Youth and Government, where he honed his skills in policy, advocacy, and community engagement.
Subhash’s mission for the Board of Education centers on Three Pillars:
Students First, Always – Prioritizing children’s educational, emotional, and physical well-being over mere statistics. Subhash advocates for restoring School-Based Youth Services, ensuring students have access to mental and physical health care at no cost to parents or the district. He believes that healthy students learn better and thrive.
Smart & Safe Technology Use – Addressing cybersecurity concerns with balanced, practical solutions rather than blanket bans. Subhash supports secure networks, cloud-based platforms, and modern management tools to ensure that students have reliable access to technology that enhances learning and prepares them for the modern world.
Transparency & Community Engagement – Creating clearer communication between the board, parents, teachers, and students. Subhash envisions open forums, timely updates, and easy access to meeting notes and committee summaries so that the community can stay informed and actively involved in decisions that shape students’ futures.
Subhash Durbha is committed to putting students first, embracing innovation, and fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration. His vision for the Board of Education is grounded in the belief that every decision should benefit the children of Hunterdon Central, ensuring they have the resources, opportunities, and support to succeed.
