I am a high school student with an interest in engineering. I enjoy hands-on learning and building things, which I discovered through time spent with my dad constructing projects like compost bins and bed frames, etc. These experiences made me realize that engineering could be a great fit for my skills and interests. I’m still exploring which field of engineering I want to pursue, but I know I want to solve real-world problems and make a positive impact on people's lives.
Education and Activities
Building on my early interest in engineering, I am currently in my junior year at Great Mills High School. I have taken challenging courses, such as Algebra 2, and participated in the ATEX program, where I learned the fundamentals of engineering. Previously, I spent two years in my school’s robotics club during elementary school, which first got me interested in the field.
In addition to my academic work, I am an active member of the Great Mills track team and have competed all through high school. Track, especially events like the 4x1 relay, has taught me the importance of teamwork and communication—skills that are valuable in any career. I plan to continue running track in my senior year.
Goals and PlansActivities Buildin=While I have not yet held a job or joined career-related clubs, I remain committed to my education and plan to attend community college after high school. My goal is to earn a bachelor’s degree, which will give me more opportunities and access to higher-paying jobs. If engineering doesn’t work out, I am also interested in exploring real estate.
A Unique Idea
One idea I am passionate about is creating an affordable, easy-to-use prosthetic hand. Around 30-50 million people around the world live without hands and cannot afford or access prosthetic devices. I hope that one day I can help make a difference for them through innovative engineering.
In summary, I am a determined student with a passion for building, learning, and helping others. I look forward to seeing where my interests and efforts will take me next.
