A website designed to track the decisions, documents, and some of the weird things that only seem to happen in Dunsmuir. 😳
This wont just be about editorializing and opinions — what's published here will come with receipts: agendas, correspondence, and of course public documents, records, and filings all straight from City Hall.
Every Council Member and senior staff will have their own page, with searchable records tied directly to their actions (or lack thereof), public comments, votes, and publicly available history.
One goal is simple: when someone Googles the City Manager or a Council Member’s name, this site comes up first!
This site will also have a place for tips, ideas, and future inquiries. We take requests!
🔹 Some of the Key Issues We’ll Cover
The City Budget – Why is Dunsmuir’s annual budget so difficult for residents to follow? Are council members working to make it easier to understand, or harder? Who benefits from the lack of understanding?
Council Member Profiles – Who are your council members? Who nominated them, what are their ties to each other, where do they own property, and are there any conflicts of interest worth noting? For example: Council Member Matthew Bryan is married to the City’s Finance Clerk, Manya Bryan. Have they financially benefited from their relationship with the City Manager — such as in real estate transactions — and has that clouded their judgment when evaluating his performance or his management of certain staff (particularly those not named Manya Bryan or Dennis DellaBonna)?
Balanced Reporting – This site won’t just expose problems. Positive achievements will also be recognized, and credit will be given where it’s due. Errors and mistakes when acknowledged and corrected is a hallmark of good governence. We will recognize progress and reward public bravery.
The City Manager – Where has he worked before Dunsmuir, and how did those jobs end? Has his performance here been effective? Did he use subordinate city staff on his personal property projects, and if so, what consequences followed once that was exposed? How do other cities handle this type of issue? Has he been consistently transparent on his financial disclosures (Form 700)? Did he file a workers comp claim claiming stress to avoid termination in 2024? And is the Council willing to rubber-stamp his terrible choices just to avoid criticism and public fallout? Coming soon: toxic text messages from his wife, Jacquie Rief, attacking city staff and even the Mayor — offering a rare glimpse into how personal grudges have influenced City Hall and cost the citizens tens of thousands in wasted spending and resources. Is the council aware of these text messages what have they done, if anything, to protect the people targeted?
Unusual Spending – What expenditures has the Council approved in the past year that may have led to a deficit and their placing a sales tax increase on the November 2025 ballot? Have they wasted money behaving like a small city like Dunsmuir has unlimited revenue and are now scrambling to raise taxes?
By working together as a community, we can make sure our elected and appointed representatives remain accountable to the people they serve.
When we approach the public podium at council meetings do they smile or do they look away, or give a mean stare with crossed their arms, irritated anyone dared to take time out of their day to come and wait their turn to express an idea, share a concern, or show interest?
We want the council to be successful on our behalf, and to get there they might need to listen and talk to someone other than themselves, and their favorite friends and wealthy benefactors. Are they responsive to constituents or do they ignore them? We will explore this topic in great detail.
