This is a YouTube E-Learning video by Ms. Duong, an English teacher in Da Lat City, Vietnam. This project involved the creation of a long-form e-learning video designed to clearly illustrate four core differences between British and American English. The aim was to provide a concise yet comprehensive resource for learners to understand these key distinctions.
Instructional Designer: Defining the learning objectives and structuring the content to ensure pedagogical effectiveness, guided by Mayer's Multimedia Principles.
Storyboarder: Developing detailed storyboards to visualize the video flow, synchronize narration with visuals, and plan all on-screen elements.
Video Editor: Executing all video editing tasks, including dialogue editing, adding motion graphics, and integrating humorous memes.
Graphic Designer: Creating all necessary visual assets and on-screen graphics to support the learning content.
English learners in Vietnam are interested in understanding the distinctions between British and American English. This primarily includes individuals focused on conversational English and students studying English in school.
By the end of this video, learners will be able to understand the four key differences between British and American English.
My design approach for this e-learning video was primarily guided by Mayer’s Multimedia Principles. Specifically, I focused on applying principles such as:
Coherence Principle: Ensuring all presented content is relevant to the learning objectives, avoiding extraneous visuals or text that could distract learners.
Signaling Principle: Highlighting key information and concepts to help learners focus on what's most important.
Redundancy Principle: Carefully integrating visuals and narration to avoid simply repeating information, thus optimizing cognitive load.
Multimedia Principle: Combining words (narration and on-screen text) with relevant images and animations to enhance understanding and retention.
In addition to these research-backed principles, I integrated memes and humorous elements throughout the video. This intentional choice aimed to create a more enjoyable and less stressful learning environment, fostering learner engagement and making complex linguistic differences more approachable and memorable. The goal was to transform a potentially dry academic topic into an engaging and entertaining learning experience.
Storyboarding: Google Docs.
Graphic Design: Canva Pro.
Video Editing & Animation: Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut PC Pro.
This project provided invaluable practical experience and significantly enhanced my technical and instructional design skills. Specifically, I gained hands-on experience in:
Efficient Project Organization: Mastering the creation of effective folder structures within video editing software, which greatly streamlined the production workflow.
Advanced Video Editing Techniques: Applying a range of essential video editing techniques, including Dialogue Editing, Beauty & Retouch, Motion Graphics, Meme integration, Color Correction, and Sound Design.
Practical Application of Instructional Design Principles: Directly implementing Mayer’s Multimedia Principles in a real-world e-learning context, solidifying my understanding of how to design engaging and effective multimedia learning experiences.
A quick look behind the scenes, where ideas take shape, decisions are made, and learning experiences begin to come to life.

Whether you're building a course from scratch or improving an existing one, I’d love to help you design learning experiences that truly work for your learners and your goals.
I help educators, course creators, and organizations turn their ideas into clear, engaging, and learner-centered digital experiences.
From storyboarding to editing, I craft learning videos that follow how people learn, with thoughtful pacing, meaningful visuals, and language that keeps learners engaged.
From content mapping to slide visuals, I design structured learning flows that guide learners step by step, making complex ideas easier to follow and remember.
I design activities that invite learners to participate, reflect, and apply. Real learning happens through doing and practice, not rote memorization.
An LMS should guide, not confuse. I help you turn your course materials into a structured, learner-friendly experience that supports the learning goals.
