Our Aims

The overarching aim of Dundee Cinéma des Auteurs is to serve as a dedicated showcase and platform for filmmakers and digital content creators based in Dundee, Scotland.

The scope of the Dundee Cinéma des Auteurs is quite broad:

Focus on Local Filmmakers:

It specifically aims to celebrate and provide a platform for filmmakers based in Dundee or the surrounding area. This is to champion homegrown cinematic achievements within the city.

Inclusivity of Experience Levels:

The showcase welcomes filmmakers of all levels to share their stories. Inexperience is not a barrier to inclusion; if a filmmaker has something interesting or fun, the festival wants to showcase it. The event hopes to support existing filmmakers and inspire the next generation of storytellers.

Variety of Film Formats and Genres: The festival embraces a wide range of genres and styles, including shorts to features, big or small. This extends beyond traditional films to include local band music videos, drone video work, social media clips, and more . The organisers are interested in everything "from feature film to Tiktok clip and everything in between"

Accessibility for Filmmakers: Importantly, all running expenses, including promotion, are being met by Dundee Cinéma des Auteurs allowing filmmakers to focus on their creative vision without financial burden related to showcasing their work at the event.

Duration and Frequency: It is a unique 3-day event with at least three shows per day, each lasting a couple of hours .
