Duncan Forsyth-Forrest (b. 1990) is an English composer. Born and raised in rural Wiltshire, he was initially educated at an Anglican school, where he was introduced to hymns and biblical stories, and later at a comprehensive school. He began composing at the age of sixteen, writing songs and soundtrack music.
Essentially self-taught as a composer, he undertook his initial formal musical studies in London, where he completed an undergraduate degree in music performance, followed by postgraduate studies in music theory and composition in New York. Whilst in New York, he engaged with the experimental and new music scenes, and his compositions began to incorporate both acoustic and electronic instruments. His compositions were featured as part of the Brooklyn Composer's Concerts between 2017-2019.
He is currently completing a doctorate in music composition in England. A composition of his featured at the 40th anniversary BeAST festival in Birmingham in 2022. His more recent work marks a return to his earlier interests in acoustic music, particularly choral, string, orchestral and sacred music.
He divides his time between England and America, composing and teaching music.
