The course requires the following:
Knowledge of ALGORITHMS at a basic undergraduate level (COMPSCI 330 or equivalent)
Knowledge of DISCRETE MATHEMATICS at a basic undergraduate level (COMPSCI 230 or equivalent)
Knowledge of PROBABILITY, LINEAR ALGEBRA and MULTIVARIATE CALCULUS at a basic undergraduate level
Mathematical maturity commensurate with someone who has taken and done well in undergraduate proof-based mathematical courses
There will be three or four homework assignments during the course.
Students have to do a project in groups of 2-4. Some proposed project topics and ideas will be published on the course website during the course.
Feel free to use LLMs to help with coding, but you need to understand what the code does.
Please don't use LLMs to solve homeworks directly (they likely won't work well unless you know what you are doing).
Please don't use LLMs to write your project report (OK to use for proofreading/simple editing, please acknowledge such uses).
