Graduation Requirements
At DUHS, we are committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education that prepares
them for success in college and beyond. In order to graduate, students must fulfill the following
graduation requirements:
English: Students must earn a total of 4 credits in English, including courses in composition, literature,
and language arts.
Math: Students must earn a total of 4 credits in Math, including Algebra I and Geometry, as well as
additional courses in Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
Science: Students must earn a total of 4 credits in Science, including courses in Biology, Chemistry,
Physics, and other laboratory sciences.
Social Studies: Students must earn a total of 3 credits in Social Studies, including 1 semester of Civics
and 2 semesters of US History. In addition, students must pass the IL & US Constitution tests.
Religious Studies: Students must earn a total of 6 credits in Religious Studies, including 8 semesters
of Islamic Studies (2 credits) and Qur’anic Studies (4 credits).
Physical Education: Students must earn a total of 2 credits in Physical Education, including 1 semester
of Health.
Arabic as a Foreign Language: Students must earn a total of 2 credits in Arabic as a Foreign Language.
Technology/ Computer Sciences/ Software Applications: Students must earn a total of 1 credit in
Technology/ Computer Sciences/ Software Applications.
Business & Personal Finance/ Resource Management: Students must earn a total of 1 credit in
Business & Personal Finance/ Resource Management (Economics).
Electives: Students must earn a total of 3 credits in Electives, which can include dual credit college
courses. Dual credit courses are awarded 0.5 credit/semester.
Community Service: Students must complete a total of 80 hours of community service.
It is important to note that these graduation requirements are subject to change and are updated on
an ongoing basis. Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisors regularly to ensure
that they are on track to meet all graduation requirements.
In order to graduate, students must earn a minimum of 2.5 GPA and have obtained at least 30 credit
hours.
