Monkey takes great pride in his roots within the Tay and Hmong communities, two of the 53+ ethnic groups that enrich Vietnam's diverse cultural landscape.
Fluent in English, Vietnamese, and the local dialects of Hmong, Tay, and Dao, he is deeply versed in the customs and lifestyles of Northern Vietnam's vibrant cultures, the very lands where he was raised and continues to call home.
Monkey is dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for his guests, aiming to leave them with cherished memories that last a lifetime. His efforts resonate deeply, as demonstrated by a group who memorized their adventure with Monkey through a tattoo, a permanent tribute to the special moments they shared on their motorbike tour.
Monkey's Vision for Du Gia Cozy Homestay & Tours
Monkey harbors a deep passion for enhancing the skills and prospects within his community, with a special focus on empowering the youth. Recognising the pivotal role of English proficiency in securing future employment, Monkey honed his English language skills over a decade in tourism, seeks to smooth this path for the local children.
With aspirations to bridge the opportunity gap, Monkey is taking strides to set up a local education center. Here, children can learn English, opening doors to additional income avenues that can support their family's needs—from healthcare, education, to everyday necessities often taken for granted.
In the mountainous north of Vietnam local guides don't typically earn more than $15USD per day, making access to healthcare, education, and other essentials impossible for many. Recognising the need for diversified income to support his family, Monkey embarked on a journey of personal and community growth and tenaciously diligently saved from his tour guiding ventures to establish the Du Gia Cozy Homestay over the past decade.
With the absence of traditional financial support systems like angel investors or startup incubators in rural Vietnam, Monkey is determined to realize this vision through the same self-funded approach that successfully brought the Du Gia Cozy Homestay to fruition.
