Meet Jessyka Rodríguez – Founder of Dual Language Childcare
Hola!
I'm Jessyka Rodriguez, a devoted mother of two wonderful daughters—ages 3 and 2—who inspire me every day with their curiosity and joy. With over a decade of experience in education, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Special Education. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Curriculum Design, deepening my commitment to reimagining education in a way that truly honors the individuality of each child.
My teaching journey began at Colegio de Montessori in Puerto Rico, where I nurtured preschoolers’ development through creative and child-centered approaches. I later taught high school students, broadening my perspective on how learning evolves across different stages. Since relocating to Virginia in 2015, I’ve worked in diverse educational settings in Prince George’s County, MD, and Alexandria City, VA, with a focus on bilingual and dual-language education.
Over time, my passion has grown toward educational philosophies that are often seen as nontraditional—Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia—yet they are deeply respectful of the child’s natural rhythm, emotional world, and developmental needs. These approaches help foster a strong sense of self-worth and independence, while honoring each child’s unique path. I believe education should not be one-size-fits-all, but rather a living, responsive experience that prepares children not just for jobs, but to create their own paths and lead with empathy and innovation.
In line with this vision, I currently homeschool my daughters, designing experiences that reflect their interests, needs, and natural curiosity. This personal journey has strengthened my dream of expanding beyond traditional schooling to support other families who seek a different kind of learning journey—families whose children may not thrive in conventional classrooms and who are ready for an education that is interest-driven, flexible, and deeply meaningful.
I founded Dual Language Childcare as a place where young children can begin this journey—immersed in a nurturing bilingual environment that celebrates English and Spanish equally. Our days are rich with sensory exploration, emotional learning, creativity, and community. It’s more than a childcare center—it’s a safe, loving space where children grow as confident, joyful learners.
My long-term goal is to establish a licensed learning center that also serves homeschool families and children seeking alternative education. Once licensed as a formal center, I plan to launch an additional program for school-age children—an enriching microschool-style environment where learning follows their interests, supports their individual needs, and helps them build both knowledge and character.
At Dual Language Childcare, we create the foundation for this future. Our curriculum is intentionally crafted to align with developmental milestones and whole-child learning. We share weekly lesson plans and provide families with tools to extend learning at home—because we believe that education thrives when nurtured both in and beyond the classroom.
This is just the beginning. I invite you to be part of this journey—a growing movement that believes in the power of childhood, the magic of curiosity, and the promise of a more human, more joyful education.
Warm regards,
Jessyka Rodriguez
Founder & Director, Dual Language Childcare
At Dual Language Childcare, our mission is to nurture each child's natural curiosity and creativity through a harmonious blend of Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia educational philosophies. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment where children are encouraged to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace. By fostering independence, empathy, and a lifelong love for learning, we aim to support the holistic development of every child, preparing them to be thoughtful, engaged, and compassionate members of their communities.
Central to our approach is a strong emphasis on bilingual education. We believe that immersing children in both English and Spanish from an early age enhances cognitive development, cultural awareness, and communication skills. Our dual-language environment encourages children to express themselves confidently in both languages, laying a foundation for lifelong bilingualism and biliteracy.
Through this integrated approach, we strive to cultivate globally-minded individuals who appreciate diversity and are equipped with the skills to navigate an interconnected world.

VISION
At Dual Language Childcare, we envision a nurturing and inclusive environment where children flourish as confident, compassionate, and curious individuals. Rooted in the philosophies of Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia, our approach celebrates the unique potential of each child, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning.
We aspire to cultivate bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish, recognizing that early dual-language immersion enhances cognitive development and cultural awareness. By embracing the richness of diverse cultures and languages, we prepare our children to navigate and contribute positively to an interconnected world.
Through collaborative partnerships with families and the community, we aim to create a dynamic learning space that honors the child's voice, encourages exploration, and supports holistic growth—academically, socially, emotionally, and linguistically.
