Student Support
The primary aim of our association is to support students at the University of Lucerne and those incoming from Carleton University. We want to make studying the degree as smooth as possible by offering advice, answering questions, and sharing experiences.
Alumni Network
Our second mission is the creation and maintenance of an alumni network, giving everyone who did the Dual Degree in Political Science a chance to stay connected. With the help of our partner association at Carleton University, we want to make sure the contact between Canada and Switzerland stays intact, long after someone completed the degree.

Hi! I'm Nicole :) I live in Zurich, where I regularly go out to eat or have a coffee with my friends. I did my Bachelor in Political Science at the University of Zurich with a Minor in Communication. My interests are music, dancing, gigs, traveling, cooking, baking, and reading - anything that makes life more fun! I love reading everything from fantasy to political and historical non-fiction, although during the semester I mostly stick to fiction. What convinced me to do this Dual Degree is that it's more than a regular exchange, you get the immersive experience of a North American university! And all the traveling that comes with it ;)
Cynthia Walliser (Co-President):
Hi, I'm Cynthia:) Together with Nicole, I did my Bachelor's in Zurich, where I also live and where I love sipping coffee, trying out the latest pop-ups, or swimming in the lake or river. Although not nearly as much as Nicole, I also enjoy reading, or pursuing my newly discovered hobby—crocheting—while listening to podcasts.
Despite my love for my hometown, I wanted to broaden my horizons and learn new things. That's why I chose the Dual Degree program—and I haven't regretted it! The opportunity to study abroad and earn a second degree were the things that ultimately convinced me. The winter was tough, but over time you learn to enjoy its advantages, and as soon as you get through it, everything blossoms and people wake up from their hibernation. With a little patience, you can find good coffee and nice cafes in Ottawa too, and in the summer you can also go swimming in the lake or river.
Elija Stäuble (Co-President):
Hi! I already did my bachelor at the university of Lucerne, with a major in political science and a minor in economics. Because my thirst for knowledge was not yet filled, I looked into different master programs. I was drawn to the Dual Degree program, as it is not just an exchange, but much more substantial and allows one to gain valuable insights. I live in a small city called Sursee, where I am actively using my knowledge in local politics. In my freetime I like to play squash, spend time with friends or ride on two wheels – both on a bicycle and a motorbike.
Juan Manuel Herrera Garcia (Co-President):
Hola! I am Juan, from Mexico. I studied my Bachelors in Economics back home. I saw the opportunity to study the Dual Degree Program in PoliSci and became immediately enamored with the idea. I love the outdoors, geography, board games, and learning and debating about history and politics.
