Pre-K1 Goals and Expectations 

Minimum Skill Required to enter Pre-K2

Language Art (Reading):

• Recognizing Letters(upper and lower case)

• Recognize and say the common sound of most letters

Math:

• Recognizing Numbers 0-20

• Counts orally to 20

• Recognizing and naming the basic eight colors: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, brown, and black

• Recognizing and naming basic shapes: square, rectangle, circle, triangle, oval, star, heart, and diamond

• Recognizing and creating simple AB patterns

• Understanding Positional concepts(in, out, on, under, above, behind, in front of)

• Sorting objects according to common attribute(grouping objects of same color, size, same shape)

Fine Motor Skill:

• Holding a pencil properly when writing

General Skill:

• Holding a book properly when reading

• Turning pages without folding nor tearing book

• Following one step direction

• Staying on task

• Listening to a story and answering simple comprehension questions
