Reading Comprehension* and Spelling Test on 1/30/26
*Students will be given two stories to read, and answer comprehension questions after each story.
Types of Sentences:
Declarative- My favorite color is red.
Interrogative - What is my favorite color?
Imperative - Tell me my favorite color.
Exclamatory - My favorite color is red!

Writing
Students will be working on their "When I Grow Up..." books
Reading logs are sent home the last Friday of every month and due the first Friday of the following month. One picture on the log will be colored for every 20 minutes of reading. Reading logs will need to signed by the parents before they are sent back to school. Please make sure your child is reading and not just coloring the reading log, honesty is part of our faith.
January reading logs are due Monday (Feb 2nd)
***This will be one of the largest grades for your child***
Starting October all the way through March, we will have a Mystery Reader come into our classroom once a month, with a book of their choice, and read to the class. Prior to coming into the classroom, the mystery reader will provide 3-4 clues about themselves. The class will try and guess who our mystery reader is. A sign-up sheet will be provided by the the homeroom parents. We will need ONE parent to sign up for each month, to come in and read a book to the class.

***After each lesson, a practice worksheet will be assigned as homework, the kids need bring it back the next day for a grade. ***
Assessment:
Each module will have TWO assessment forms (A and B) Form A, will be sent home for homework, we will go over it in class. The students will correct the form and take it home for review. Form B will be the test the kids will be graded on.
Math tests will be given on TUESDAYS, unless the teacher informs you otherwise.
