In case you're not familiar, DTMer is an app that measure distance and time, then calculate fares via pre-defined rate. You can also define your own rate in your region, calculate fares through your device's location, if you can not find rate template in DTMer in your region.
We understand that privacy is important when sharing your location. That's why we have built-in features that give you both visibility into and control over what you're sharing. We have prepared this Privacy Policy to make sure you are aware of our practices. This policy applies to your use of the DTMer app.
Important information
Before you read on, we would like to highlight important information.
To use DTMer, which is anonymously. Nick name, email and gender are not mandatory. The information above is to provide specific services to you and identify who you are, when you want to report bugs. All these profile information is also public when you choose online in DTMer, and you can turn it off-line anytime in the app.
DTMer is a location based application. In order to provide the services to you we need to access you location. And none of this information will be sold to third parties.
You can always email us at dtmerservice@gmail.com if you have questions about our Privacy Policy, if you want to access to your data, correct your data, or if you want us to delete it. See Control over your information for details.
We have a data deletion and retention policy in place that details how long we store your information. As a general rule, we store the information we collect as long as you are actively using the DTMer app. If you haven't opened or used the app for more than 12 months we will delete your anonymous account. For details, have a look at How long we keep your information.
[Information we collect]
There are three categories of information we collect:
*** Information you provide
*** Information we may get when you use DTMer
*** Information we collect from third parties
*** Information you provide
When you interact with our services, we collect information that you choose to share with us.
Registration(Anonymously). When you register through the app, you provide us with a nick name, gender and email which are not mandatory. We don't need any verification because it is anonymously so far.
Location. DTMer is a location based service. In order for the app to fully function we require your precise location and need to store your location history. You provide us with your location through the permission settings on your device. We collect your location using methods that include GPS, wireless networks, cell towers and Wi-Fi access points. We use this range of data sources to give your correspondent role the most accurate location of where you are. Your location information is always associated with a timestamp, without the timestamp we would not be able to provide the features that are part of our services. For example, without a timestamp we would be unable to tell your correspondent role(driver/passenger) how precisely the location is. If, for whatever reason, you're letting someone else use your profile you can disable location sharing to keep their location private as well as prevent any misunderstandings about your own location.
*** Information we may get when you use DTMer
When you use our services, we collect information about how you use those services so we can provide you with a better experience. Here are some examples:
Usage information. We collect information with regard to your activity on DTMer. For example, what you choose for your rate template, or you set your own rate, how much time you use it and how much distance you measure, and so on. This helps us understand what you like, and what we should improve!
Device information. We collect a variety of device-specific information, such as device brand, model, os version, region and language, for statistical purposes. This helps us protect your security, fix bugs.
Location information. We collect location information so we can build useful, and accurate, services and features for you. For example. we calculate and accumulate distance base on your locations, no matter in foreground or background, such as measuring distance when running. DTMer won't get your location when you are not in the progress of billing, measuring or online status. However, you can decide not to grant background location permission if you can keep DTMer always in foreground when billing or measuring.
*** Information we collect from third parties
We may obtain information from any other third-party sources—and combine that with the information we normally collect through our services. For example, we may obtain information from third parties to help identify points of interest. Be sure we'll never send them information about your precise position!
[How we use information]
Our main goal is to offer the best possible location based service. Specifically, we may use your information to…
…develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain, and protect our services.
…send you communications, including by email. For example, we may use email to respond to direct support inquiries (pro tip: it's quicker and faster to use in-app support!) or contact you to check if you enjoy using DTMer.
…create statistical studies and monitor and analyze trends. For example:
……Statistical studies. Creating statistical studies on an anonymized basis. We will never disclose your identity. Not even your nick name. For example, we may look for groups of users with similar movement patterns to see if we can improve the user experience of DTMer.
……Registration statistics. Determining which groups (e.g. country, users of different role, operating systems, etc.) are statistically relevant to the different studies that DTMer conducts on an aggregate basis.
……Movements over time. Measuring and analyzing the movements of users over time. For example, by studying your weekly activities, we can guess how long your working time will be!
…improve the way you may contact with your correspondent role(consumer/provider).
…personalize the DTMer service. For example, suggesting profile information or rate information near by in your region.
…contextualize your experience by displaying your favorite users(consumer/provider) and favorite locations in the app. For example, your best drivers appear bigger than others to make it easy to connect with them.
…enhance the safety and security of our products and services, for example by detecting and preventing excessive member requests. Nobody likes spam!
…assess the success rate of our marketing campaigns, for example to see if you installed DTMer after seeing an ad for DTMer on another platform.
…enforce our Terms of Service and other usage policies.
…store some information locally on your device, so that you can open the app and view content faster.
[How we share information]
We may share your information in the following ways:
With other DTMer users. Specifically, we may share the following information:
Information about you, such as your nick name, role, gender, email, where you are. So when you create your profile, remember it's public and can be viewed by DTMer's other user when you choose online.
Your location, but only if you choose online, which allowed them to view it. We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that users may have access to your location regardless of theirs. This means that if a user is traveling abroad they will still be able to see where you are, and vice versa. Remember: you can always stop the sharing of your location in the app anytime.
With third parties. Specifically:
With service providers and partners. We may share information about you with service providers who perform services on our behalf and business partners that provide services and functionality, including partners who show DTMer ads on their platforms.
With third parties for legal reasons. We may share information about you if we reasonably believe that disclosing the information is needed to:
Comply with any valid legal process, governmental request, or applicable law, rule, or regulation.
Investigate, remedy, or enforce potential Terms of Service violations.
Protect the rights, property, and safety of us, our users, or others.

If DTMer gets involved in a merger, asset sale, stock sale, share sale, financing, liquidation or bankruptcy, or acquisition of all or some portion of our business to another company, we may share your information with that company before and after the transaction closes. Things like this can happen in the wild world of tech!
Also be aware that other user may take screenshots of the app and/or share some information about their interactions with you on DTMer.
Third-Party Content and Integrations
Our services may also contain third-party links and include third-party integrations. Through these links and third-party integrations, you may be providing information (including personal information) directly to the third party, us, or both. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for how those third parties collect or use your information. As always, we encourage you to review the privacy policies of every third-party service that you visit or use, including those third parties you interact with through our services.
How long we keep your information
We store your information as long as necessary and as long as you're a user of our service. We have different retention protocols in place depending on the information. As a general rule, we store the information we collect as long as you are actively using DTMer and in some cases, we only store information for a short period of time. If you haven't opened or used the app for more than 12 months we will delete your account and the associated data. Also note that we aggregate or anonymous information for certain purposes such as data analytics. Once we've anonymized the data we retain it indefinitely.
The following data is stored as long as you are actively using the DTMer app:
Your nick name, email, gender and role
Location data
Your device and usage information
Of course, we also respect your requests for account deletion. The following section, Control over your information, provides more information on how to delete your account.
We take data deletion and retention very seriously and have created a dedicated page with more information on how data deletion and retention works at DTMer. As a basic principle, we only keep the data we need to provide you with our services.
Control over your information
It is very important to us that you have control over your information! Here are some ways we establish just that:
Location. You can change the location that is visible to your corespondent role(consumer/provider) at any time in the app settings. We allow you to share only limited location information with other users, or even hide your location from them altogether.
Access. We strive to let you access and update most of the personal information that we have about you. Most of this can be done in the profile section of the app. If you need to access, update, or delete any other personal information that we may have, you can contact dtmerservice@gmail.com. Note however that, we may ask you to verify your identity or provide additional information before we can provide access to your information.
Deletion. You can easily delete information in the app. If you want to delete your location history, you can do this in the History section in the app.
Account deletion. We don't like seeing you leave us but if, for some reason, you want to delete your anonymous account, you can do this in Setting/Profile deletion section in the app, too. If you forgot to do so in the app before you uninstall, you can always contact us at dtmerservice@gmail.com to request account deletion. Or click "Account Deletion" for further actions. And to remind you that data and account deletion are all unrecoverable.
Right to object. You have the right to object to our use of your information. For some types of data (e.g your nickname), you can simply delete it from DTMer and it won't be visible anymore. You can delete your account to stop us from processing your information. This can be done from within the app, or you can drop a mail to dtmerservice@gmail.com and we can talk you through the process.
We're always happy to answer any questions you may have about data sharing. If you do have any questions simply let us know at dtmerservice@gmail.com.
Revisions to the Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll let you know one way or another. Sometimes, we'll let you know by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Policy. Other times—especially if there is a major change—we'll provide you with additional notice, such as adding a statement to our app notification.
That's all for now
If you have any questions feel free to let us know at dtmerservice@gmail.com
