Summer is the perfect time for reading! I love reading on the porch in the mornings, by the pool or ocean on vacation, curled up in a big chair on a rainy day, before bed each night. I even enjoy reading on my daily walks, thanks to audiobooks (also great for car rides!).
On this website, I want to give you suggestions in different genres and formats. I've highlighted my personal picks for each category. You'll also find some resources for locating books and information on summer reading programs.
Ready to read? Take the SummerReadingChallenge!
And don't forget to check out summer reading programs at your local library or book store!
Other great things you can do this summer to keep up your literacy skills:
Listen to some good music! Lyrics are poetry set to a tune or beat! Try writing your own songs or raps.
Read the newspaper or a magazine - print or online! Periodicals are a great way to keep up with what's currently going on in the world!
Check out some FanFiction or even write your own! Wattpad and Archive of Our Own are great options.
Do some coding. Code.org and Codecademy.com are two great free resources.
Get outside and explore the world! Visit a local park or explore Atlanta's street art.
