"Empowering Educators and Elevating Learning for Every Student's Success."
Dana Teague has worked in the field of inclusive education since 2007. She began as a special education teacher at the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District in South Jersey, where she taught students in Grades 3 through 5. Her time as a special education teacher allowed her to work in resource rooms, self contained, ABA, and inclusion classroom settings. During her time as a special education teacher, she became well versed in the Response to Intervention (RtI) model and became an advocate for coaching and supporting students, families, and staff in best practices for students to receive differentiation within their general education classrooms. Dana also spent many years chairing her school's Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) Team, where she coached and provided professional development to staff on behavioral interventions for students. Her work with these programs afforded her the opportunity to become the district's Instructional Facilitator in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction. At the administrative level, she was able to provide professional development and coaching services to teachers and staff in Grades PreK to 6. Dana's knowledge on data driven instructional practices allowed her to collaborate with building principals to create effective data meetings, which continue to support the teachers, staff, and students.
Most recently, Dana left the public school sector to pursue a full time instructor position at Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ). There she will be teaching many of the newly created inclusive education classes. Dana will also be collaborating with Rowan University to ensure students at RCSJ receive the level of rigor and supports necessary to prepare them for their fourth year at Rowan University.
In addition to working at RCSJ and in the elementary school, Dana has been an adjunct professor at Rowan University’s College of Education since September 2016. During her time at Rowan, she has taught several courses within the Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Education. She received her Master of Arts in Reading in December 2015 and her Reading Specialist Certification. In May 2018, she completed her second Masters in School Administration also at Rowan University. In February 2016, Dana, along with three other colleagues, were able to present at the 37th Annual Ethnography Conference at UPenn. The topic of the presentation was based on her thesis that was published in 2016, and the main points focused on multicultural literacy with struggling elementary readers.
Dana was also previously a member of the Department of Education’s Division of Teaching and Learning Council. While working on this Council, she was able to analyze state mandates related to schools and participate in educational laws and programs before being released to the school districts.
In Dana’s personal life, she is an avid dancer and musical theater lover and has been able to translate her passions to not only a local dance studio and high school, but also to her two lovely boys. Both of her boys have fallen in love with music and theater and she is so happy to see them pursue their passions. Her oldest son, Anthony loves to play the guitar and work behind the scenes of musicals and plays, while her youngest son loves to sing and play piano, while being the center stage of summer theater productions.
Dana is truly excited to share her knowledge and passion for learning to many other districts in South Jersey! She hopes to get to know many new faces and provide customized services to meet the needs of each of your unique learners.
