General Report on Secondary Mobility in Turkey within the Scope of the Digital Trace of Cultural Heritage Erasmus+

The fourth mobilization was held in Gaziantep, Turkey, between 21.10.2024 and 25.10.2024. There were 19 participants, including 12 students and 7 teachers, from the partner schools and 18 participants, including 6 teachers and 12 students from the host school. Of the participating countries, on Sunday, the Lithuanian team arrived at 10:20 in the morning, the Croatian team arrived at 19:40 and the Romanian team arrived at 22:45, and the teachers and students were accommodated in the hotel in the city.

On the first day of the activity, we arrived at our school in the morning and activities (introduction, ice breaking game, school introduction), preliminary survey were held and in the afternoon we went to the soap factory, olive factory and peanut factory in the city. The culture of Gaziantep was introduced. We returned to school after 17.00. Then teachers and students had free time.

On the second day, after meeting at school in the morning, we visited the historical ancient city of Zeugma in Nizip, Gaziantep. Afterwards, we returned to school and introduced the local dishes of Gaziantep and prepared them together at school.

On the third day, we went to the Panaroma Museum in the city center. Afterwards, we visited the Bath Museum, which reflects the culture of this region. Then, we visited the Coppersmiths' Bazaar, where local clothes, local accessories and local delicacies are exhibited and shopped. After lunch, we went to the mosaic workshop in Gazintep to get acquainted with the art of mosaic from ancient times and made mosaics. Finally, we visited the Zeugma Mosaic Museum to see the mosaic works unearthed from the Zeugma Ancient City, which we visited on the second day. We dropped off the teachers and students to their hotels.

On the fourth day, we went to the city of Şanlıurfa. In this city, we visited Göbeklitepe Ancient City, which has the oldest known structures in the world so far. After lunch, we visited Balıklıgöl, which is also a cultural hotspot in Şanlıurfa. We asked the students to solve the secret of this region with some passwords given to them, and then they prepared a presentation with the information they found. At the same time, they had the opportunity to get to know and try the local clothes in this region.

On the last day of Türkiye mobility, participating countries and host country students prepared and presented a presentation about the story of Balıklıgöl. Then, all countries presented the historical heroes they prepared, and then a survey was conducted for all participants. Afterwards, we held the certificate ceremony. Finally, we attended the farewell dinner. Here, we listened to music performed in Gaziantep region's clothes and watched dances, accompanied by local food.

Our guests returned to their countries on Saturday.

From the preliminary survey (26 people participated) we can see that:

• 23.1% of the participants were from Lithuania, 30.8% from Croatia, 23.1% from Romania, 23.1% from Turkey.

• 12 of the participants knew where Turkey was. 11 people said they went to Turkey and did not know. 3 people stated that they had never heard of it.

• 13 of the participants said that they knew the city of Nizip, 6 people said that they had never heard of it and did not know it, and 5 people said that they knew it and had been in this city.

• When we asked whether they knew about cultural places, most people stated that they did not know anything, some stated that they had heard of them but had not seen them, and a few stated that they had seen them.

After the survey (27 teachers and students) we can see the following:

• All students said they learned more about cultural heritage.

• Among the cultural heritage sites they saw in Turkey, the Mosaic Workshop (66%), Zeugma Ancient City (59.3%), Göbeklitepe Museum (59.3%) and Balıklıgöl (51.9%) were the most popular.

• All participants agreed that students should have knowledge about cultural heritage.

• 93% of the participants believe that the Erasmus+ project enriches students' knowledge.

• Students said that they would tell their friends and relatives about what they saw in Turkey (37%), send their photos (33.3%) and share them on social media (18.5%).

• 96% of the participants said that they would recommend their friends and relatives to come to Turkey.

• During the mobility, 81.5% of the participants said they felt very good and 14.8% said they felt good.

The following results were obtained during Türkiye mobility:

Participants gained detailed information about Turkey's historical heroes and cultural influences. Participants shared the information and materials they acquired through virtual platforms such as presentations and video creation. Intercultural cooperation was encouraged by establishing relationships with students and teachers from other countries. Students' knowledge, intercultural understanding and creativity were improved.
