In this session, Kevin Smith presented some new updates to Quizizz. Quizizz is an assessment tool similar to Kahoot and Quizlet. Several new features discussed included a flashcard feature, interactive lessons (like Nearpod), and adaptive learning (differentiates quiz questions from a bank based on previously mastered/missed questions). Kevin also demonstrated how to teleport quiz questions from public or personal quizzes as well from a spreadsheet file.

In this session facilitated by Kindra Schneider, Teresa Howell (Madison High School Counselor) and DSU faculty discussed DSU's College of Education annual service project: hygiene kits for Madison students. Throughout the year, teachers and staff work to notice and meet the needs of their students with hygiene items and kits. The items are stored in the school bulidings, but items and funds often run out before the end of the year. This is where DSU's College of Education comes in: project participants donate, purchase, organize, assemble, and deliver hygiene kits for Madison schools to have on hand. Not every participant has to do everything; there are options to donate money (GoFundMe), donate items (add to the bin in the Kennedy Center), and donate time (volunteer to organize, purchase, and deliver on DSU's Day of Service, Wed, Apr 28th).

In this session, Kindra Schneider shared about the reflective assignments students complete in her class. These assignments are midpoint and final reflections on the course in which students evaluate their understanding and learning, and they have an opportunity to provide constructive feedback for the instructor. They can indicate which tasks they liked and didn't like, why, and how the task could be improved.
Tips and Tricks:
Ask for feedback when you're ready to take the criticism
Ask for feedback when you have the time to make the changes
Use Google Forms or Google Docs as student survey tools
As a part of a mid-point reflection, provide an opportunity to discuss assignment feedback (perhaps via Zoom)
Model checking in and making adjustments that prioritize student needs
