Train ride parties for children are normally hosted by one of our drivers on Saturdays with occasional mid-week afternoon sessions, if a driver is available.

In addition to the parking areas adjacent to the tracks, there is also an entertainment/picnic area which features swings, slides and a jungle gym.

The clubhouse, its kitchen and toilet facilities are also available for party guests. This is therefore an ideal environment for children to play and celebrate special occasions such as a birthday with their friends in a fenced environment.

The Durban Society of Model Engineers is a Club with a membership, open to all persons with an interest in Model Engineering. The Club is a Registered Non-Profit Organisation and is NOT run on a commercial basis.

The members - many of whom are retired - volunteer to run Children's Birthday Parties, School Parties or Corporate Family Day Parties for the Public, the proceeds of which help towards, but do not cover the Club operating expenses.

Children's Birthday Parties, School Parties or Corporate Family Day Parties are run on Saturdays with occasional mid-week afternoon sessions, if drivers are available.
Two sessions are run on Saturdays.
Morning Session:
9:30: Site open to the Party host to allow set up of tables, refreshments, etc.
10:00 - 12:00: Train Operating Period, with a 15 minute break for Birthday cake/Party.
12:30: Site to be cleared and vacated.
Afternoon Session:
13:30: Site open to the Party host to allow set up of tables, refreshments, etc.
14:00 - 16:00: Train Operating Period, with a 15 minute break for Birthday cake/Party.
16:30: Site to be cleared and vacated.
COSTS:
The charges for Standard Children's Birthday Parties is currently R 1,800.00 per session (subject to change without notice).
NB: This price excludes Large School Parties or Corporate Family Day Parties - please request a separate price.
Hosts may organise and erect their own Jumping Castle.

PAYMENT:
Payment in full of R 1,800.00 (subject to change without notice) OR quoted price for a large gathering is required within 3 days of making the booking. Payment is to be made direct into the DSME Bank account by EFT.
