There are some key principles to follow when embedding a PBL approach into your BTEC:
Student Agency
The authenticity of the challenge/brief/question
The authenticity of the outcome- a final product for a real audience
The opportunity to go places (cultural capital)
The opportunity to meet lots of different people (social capital)
These principles will be explored in the following pages:
Hooking them in - using a launch event to inspire and enthuse your students
Developing an authentic output - making sure that the product has real world application and value, that students have ownership over its creation, and that it motivates and excites them.
Showcases - giving opportunities to students to present or exhibit the product, the process and the overall learning to a wider audience, preferably outside the school community.
