To empowering the student to solve the local problem by using technology, and preparing the student to tackle industry.

BV E-Talk #6 : Data Science for Startups
Nowadays, people have been thinking data science as magic! Based on Glassdoor review, data science ranked as the best job in America for 2020!
On October 15th, we did a collaboration with Bukit Vista and held its BV E-Talk #6 on Data Science for Startups. Our guest speakers came from different leading tech companies in the world. We had Steven from Tokopedia, Xiaohong from Gojek Singapore, Robert form Bukalapak, and Dean from Google Singapore.
This session was moderated by Vidiskiu, Bukit Vista’s own data scientist and the talk was started with the introduction of Jing, as the CEO of Bukit Vista, as well as DSC UI and DSC UGM, as the co-hosts. Continued with brief introduction of our moderator and speakers for the night. We prepared some interesting topics related to data science: the importance of data science in startups, how does it boosts startups’ performance, and other topics from audiences as well.
The speakers are given a chance to flex on their respective companies, which one does data science better than anybody else! Xiaohong shared that the working culture at Gojek is well-established, that she find her work there meaningful. Steven further added on the different working concepts held by the older and younger generation. While Dean agreed that Google has more numbers of data scientist among the other tech companies, Robert concluded that it is more important to collaborate rather than to compete with each other.
