Privacy Policy — Dry Run

Last updated: 27 September 2026

Dry Run is a private rehearsal app for practising workplace conversations.

What the app stores on your device

Dry Run stores the scenes you create, rehearsal runs, conversation turns, Notes, and app settings locally on your device. This information may include names or details that you enter.

What leaves your device, and why

Dry Run uses Google's Firebase platform to generate the other person's replies, write your Notes after a rehearsal, and build a scene from a description you write yourself. To do this:

- **The lines you commit during a rehearsal, and the description you write when creating your own scene, are sent to Google's Gemini model** (via Firebase AI Logic) to generate a reply, write your Notes, or draft a scene. This is the one thing this version of the app couldn't do before, and can't do without sending that text somewhere — it's how the other person's replies are actually generated.

- **If you use Speak mode**, what you say is converted to text by your device's speech recognition service before it reaches the app. Dry Run itself only ever sends the resulting text onward, never the audio.

- **The app signs you in anonymously** (Firebase Authentication) so it can tell one installation apart from another — for example, to apply a fair-use weekly limit. This creates a random device-level identifier. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal account, and there is no sign-up.

- **A device integrity check** (Google Play Integrity, via Firebase App Check) runs alongside these requests to confirm they're coming from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app, rather than an automated abuse attempt. It doesn't read anything you've written.

- **If you use "Report something the AI said"** (Settings), the text you submit is sent to and stored by the developer, so a real report can be reviewed. Nothing else about your device or your other rehearsals is attached to it.

- **If you subscribe to Full house**, your purchase and subscription status is processed by Google Play Billing and RevenueCat, the subscription platform Dry Run uses. Neither receives anything from inside a rehearsal — only what's needed to know your subscription is active.

None of this is sold, and none of it is used for advertising — Dry Run has no ads and no third-party trackers.

Data retention and deletion

Your rehearsal data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete all locally stored Dry Run data using "Delete everything" in the app's Settings screen. Uninstalling the app also removes its local app data from your device.

Content you send to Google's services to generate a reply, Notes, or a scene is processed to serve that request and is subject to Google's own data-handling terms for those services, not stored by Dry Run itself beyond what's described above. A report you submit is kept by the developer until reviewed; contact us to request it be deleted sooner.

Backups and device transfers

Dry Run disables Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer for its stored rehearsal data.

Children

Dry Run is intended for adults and is not designed for children.

Changes to this policy

If Dry Run's data practices change, this policy will be updated at this page before the relevant app update is released.
