I have a Reformed theology. I have a close relationship with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I am 33 years of age and have served in Africa and England as a minister.
I specialize in Reformed Bible study – spreading the God’s Word of hope in a pastoral context. I completed a PhD at university level. I specialized in the New Testament, to bring the message of salvation to the world in a practical way and in everyday language.
I currently serve in Africa. I am looking forward to serve God and His church in North America, where I believe I must serve next.
Reaching out to members and the community receives priority. Spiritual caring, discipleship and relationship-building are important to me and should happen in every congregation.
I love working with people of all age groups. I specialize in family ministry. Currently I am serving at a congregation with a large youth component and have experience in serving, mentoring and coaching the youth and young adults I am overseeing the congregation growing in this age group. I also have a heart for the elderly. I love reaching out to the community.
I have found great joy in small groups and regularly utilize them.
I have degrees in business management, but specialize in Reformed Bible study. I experience the closeness of Jesus and the guidance of the Spirit everywhere in my life and ministry.
In high school I felt a calling from the Holy Spirit to become a church minister. I almost went to study engineering but changed to theology and made the correct decision. I continued my theological training to the fullest, graduating with a Ph.D. in New Testament.
I am currently called to serve the Lord in Pretoria, South Africa. I am currently part of the Dutch Reformed congregation at the University of Pretoria, a large student orientated congregation with a smaller residential component. Before I came here I was a minister in Estcourt and Mooi River, both small towns in rural areas. I have always attended the Reformed Church in America (RCA, while staying in the US) and the Dutch Reformed Church (while staying in Africa).
I resided in the United States (US) as part of my school career. This was probably my favorite time in my youth as I enjoyed residing in the US so much that I knew I might one day go back. I completed middle school in Worthington, Ohio. Definitely one of the best school districts in the state. My father was a visiting professor of the Chemistry at the Ohio State University (OSU).
After we moved back to South Africa, I started studying theology at the University of Pretoria.
As a Reformed minister, I firmly believe in the five solae and the creeds & confessions of the RCA. The Dutch Reformed Church is similar to the RCA, and closest to the RCA in Africa.
The year 2021 will be my 8th year as Reformed minister.
I am married to the love of my life. Together we serve the Lord in His church. We regularly pray together and do Bible study. My wife is a strong support in my life! We plan to start with a family somewhere in the early 2020’s.
