Dr. Vincenzo Giordano initiated his career in the UK in 2011, taking a position at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary within the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. By October 2015, Dr. Vincenzo assumed the role of Locum Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Infirmary. This position allowed him to perform various cardiac procedures independently, including pioneering minimally invasive surgeries. In 2017, he was awarded a substantive consultant post. Since then, he has performed over 1900 cardiac and aortic surgeries, averaging more than 200 cases yearly. His surgical prowess encompasses a broad spectrum of procedures, such as total arterial myocardial revascularization, off-pump surgical revascularization, and complex valve repairs and replacements.
He is a crucial member of Scotland's Scottish National Thoraco-Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Complex Aortic Service, which focuses on providing comprehensive care to patients with severe aortic conditions.
In 2020, Dr. Vincenzo introduced the innovative port-access approach via a mini right anterior thoracotomy for aortic valve replacement, a technique unique to Scotland. He remains actively involved in the national TAVI program and spearheads the Quality Improvement Program within the Cardiothoracic Department, enhancing surgical protocols and patient care standards.
