Same-Sex Couples Transition to Parenthood: Stigma and Social Support
(Data collection complete)
The purpose of this study is to examine the many ways families headed by same-sex couples have been created, examine the experiences, both positive (social support) and negative (stigma and discrimination), of creating your family, and learn about the relationship between partners. This study consisted of an initial baseline survey and 1-2 hour semi-structured interviews, with a follow up survey (including the experiences from the interviews). The goal of this study is to create a measure based on these participants experiences.

(Longitudinal Study-Ongoing)
The purpose of this world wide longitudinal (Wave 1, 2, 3, & 4) internet based study was to gain insight into the diversity of non-cisgender parents and their families. The goal of the study was to examine the many ways families headed by non-cisgender parents have been created, explore their children's development, and learn more about family functioning.
Wave 3 of this was to see how these families were dealing and functioning through COVID. First round of data collection was collected April 2020 to May 2020 which consisted of a baseline survey and 8 day dairy surveys. Wave 4 was collected from August 2020 to September 2020 which consisted of a baseline survey and 8 day dairy surveys.

The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of young adults’ intention of becoming parents in the future and follow these future families overtime. To date, this study has had three waves.

Gay and Bisexual Fathers Study
(Data collection is complete)
Collaboration with Dr. Charlotte Patterson at the University of Virginia
The purpose of this worldwide longitudinal internet based study was to gain insight into the diversity of gay/bisexual fathers and their families. The goal of the study was to examine the many ways families headed by gay/bisexual fathers have been created, explore how families function, and learn about the relationship between partners. To date, this study has had two waves with the second wave including data from the adult children and gay grandfathers.

New Adoptive Families Study
(Data collection concluded 2023)
Collaboration with international partners at Université Paris Nanterre, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Universidad de Valencia, and Universidad Complutense en Madrid.
The purpose of this study is to better understand adoptive families, their parenting experiences, and their children's development. The study consists of an anonymous online survey.
