Dr. Sullivan's Guide to Graduate School
Taking the necessary steps to ensure a successful path toward graduate school can be challenging. There are multiple hurdles to navigate and numerous resources available (more so than ever before).
Note: I am not paid to endorse any of the products and services below; however, I suggest them as a non-comprehensive guide to help you as you begin exploring graduate school. Note that many of these resources provide opportunities for both the GRE and the GMAT.
Dave's suggestions for GMAT/GRE resources:
Note: They often run specials and discounts for their products. Sometimes, universities will also help reduce the costs of using these kinds of products--but you have to ask around to different offices for help and support across campus (i.e., career services offices, academic advisors, etc.).
Note: Manhattan Prep books can sometimes be obtained via 2nd-hand book sellers at a discount (or even at your local library). If you want access to the computer adaptive practice tests, buy one of the books that most interests you/skill area you need to focus on and it will provide you with a code to access the practice tests in the back of the book.
Graduate Admissions Essays (4th Edition)
Note: While there are a lot of guidebooks out there, this one is particularly helpful because it outlines ALL of the minutia involved and all the steps that you need to consider and take to navigate the graduate admissions process successfully.
Letter of Recommendation Requests:
If you have taken a course with me (or you are currently taking one of my courses) and you are interested in talking more about your graduate school plans, let's find a time to discuss these plans (either in person or via zoom).
Prior to meeting with you, there are a few things that I ask that you provide me, which you can send via the Google Form below.
Once you have completed that, email me 3 times that you are available to meet and I will try to accommodate to your schedule (sullivan@bauer.uh.edu).
Thank you and good luck!
