I am Dr. Sudipto Datta, a dedicated researcher in materials engineering with a specialization in biomaterials, 3D bioprinting, tissue engineering, microfluidics, and biosensors. Currently, I am serving as a National Postdoctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.
I completed my Ph.D. in Engineering at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, where I developed expertise in extrusion-based bioprinting and biofabrication techniques. My research primarily focuses on creating biocompatible scaffolds for regenerative medicine, particularly in skin and bone tissue engineering. My Ph.D. thesis centered around extrusion-based bioprinting of fortified alginate bioinks for the fabrication of tissue-engineered constructs.
I hold an M.Tech in Materials Science from IIEST Shibpur and a B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology. I have a solid academic foundation and was awarded fellowships during both my master’s and doctoral studies. I’ve also received several prestigious awards, including the Best Paper Award at international conferences, the Young Researcher Award, and the National Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Government of India.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to several innovations in 3D bioprinting. I have developed various biomaterial scaffolds using alginate, honey, and amino acids, optimized bioinks for tissue engineering, and created novel methods to minimize cell death during bioprinting. My work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and I have presented at several conferences, underscoring my commitment to advancing knowledge in my field.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, gaining extensive experience in biofabrication techniques like electrospinning and spin-coating, as well as cell culture and molecular biology techniques. I am a member of The Institution of Engineers, India, and continue actively contributing to cutting-edge materials science and tissue engineering research.
