I grew up in Sonipat, Haryana, India, where I completed my schooling up to Class 12 at one of the city’s most respected institutions. Those early years provided a strong foundation for my academic journey, and I remain deeply grateful to my parents for their unwavering support during that time.
After school, I joined Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, where my real journey in mathematics began. I pursued a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and graduated with the first position in the college. Receiving that recognition, especially from some of my favourite teachers, remains one of the most memorable and rewarding moments of my academic life.
I continued my academic journey at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, where I secured admission to the M.Sc. Mathematics program on a merit basis. Being the departmental topper certainly helped, but I have always believed that such opportunities come from a blend of hard work, grace, and a touch of good fortune. While luck has not always favored me, perseverance and dedication have remained the steady forces shaping my path.
The most transformative chapter of my academic journey began with my Ph.D. Until my master’s, I was deeply rooted in pure mathematics, but during my doctoral studies, I transitioned into applied mathematics, geometry, and physics. This unexpected shift reshaped not only my research interests but also my way of looking at mathematics as a whole.
In 2019, I began my Ph.D. in cosmology at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. It was my first experience living away from home and stepping into hostel life, a phase filled with growth, challenges, and unforgettable memories. My mentor, Prof. P. K. Sahoo, was more than a guide; his constant support and care felt almost paternal, always ensuring that I stayed on the right path.
After completing my Ph.D., I embarked on a new chapter as a postdoctoral researcher in Kyoto, Japan. Moving to an entirely new country, with its distinct language, culture, and rhythm of life, was both challenging and profoundly enriching. Living in Kyoto, surrounded by a seamless blend of tradition and scientific excellence, has been a truly unique experience.
Professionally, working in a vibrant academic environment alongside leading experts in theoretical physics, Prof. Shinji Mukohyama, my postdoctoral mentor and Prof. Antonio de Felice, has greatly broadened my perspective and strengthened my skills. Personally, the serene beauty of Kyoto, its temples, and the quiet discipline of its culture have nurtured growth in ways I had never anticipated.
Much more to come! Hopefully. 🙂
