Dr. Seth A. Eidemiller's story began on a fourth-generation dairy farm in Idaho, where the foundation of his work ethic and commitment to service was established. Growing up in a rural setting, he learned the value of responsibility and hard work early on. These formative years shaped his approach to life and medicine, instilling an unwavering dedication to tasks, whether as simple as farm chores or as complex as providing care in the emergency room.
Before his medical career, Dr. Eidemiller gained practical experience in various fields, each contributing to his personal growth and professional expertise. He worked as a wildland firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service, where he learned how to manage high-stress situations, stay calm under pressure, and make critical decisions on the fly. His time in construction further refined his practical skills, where he learned about carpentry, electrical systems, and home repairs. Working in restaurants also helped him develop critical interpersonal skills, including multitasking and effective communication under demanding conditions.
Dr. Eidemiller attended the University of Idaho, earning dual bachelor's degrees in International Studies and Spanish. His interest in language and culture expanded his worldview and laid the foundation for building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. This ability to connect with others would later become an invaluable skill in his medical career.
After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Eidemiller returned to Boise to complete medical school prerequisites at Boise State University. Here, he deepened his knowledge of the sciences by studying chemistry, biology, and anatomy as a lab instructor. This hands-on experience in the lab and his work in biomedical research solidified his decision to pursue a medical career. His research focused on systems biology and human health, sparking a deeper interest in understanding how the human body functions and how diseases can be treated effectively.
2012 Dr. Eidemiller began his medical journey at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno. During his four years there, he gained exposure to various medical specialties, including general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. These rotations helped him understand the complexities of healthcare and develop a diverse skill set.
Upon graduating in 2016, Dr. Eidemiller entered a medical residency program at UCSF-Fresno, one of California’s busiest emergency departments. Here, he was exposed to some of the most challenging and high-stakes medical situations, from traumatic injuries to life-threatening cardiac events. The residency program gave him advanced training in airway management, resuscitation, and ultrasound-guided procedures, equipping him to handle complex medical emergencies with confidence and precision.
While at UCSF-Fresno, Dr. Eidemiller became accustomed to treating patients with various issues, including chronic conditions and acute injuries. He was frequently required to think on his feet, balancing immediate care needs with long-term health concerns.
After completing his residency, Dr. Eidemiller joined Mercy Medical Center in Merced, where he continued to refine his emergency medicine skills. In 2020, he joined the Chico Emergency Medicine Physician Group, where his role quickly expanded. He became a key team member, coordinating patient care and improving operational systems. His attention to detail and commitment to effective communication made him a trusted leader among his colleagues.
In 2024, he was appointed Vice Chair of the Chico Emergency Medicine Physician Group. In this leadership position, Dr. Eidemiller oversees scheduling, staffing, and quality improvement initiatives while continuing to treat patients directly. His ability to manage administrative duties and clinical responsibilities has allowed him to maintain a high level of performance in both areas. He also moonlights at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno to continue working in high-acuity settings and ensure his skills remain sharp.
Dr. Eidemiller is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in California. He holds advanced cardiac life support certifications, advanced trauma care, and airway management. His clinical skills include line placements, wound care, and procedural sedation. Known for his clear communication and composed demeanor, he is respected for his ability to remain calm in stressful situations while delivering exceptional patient care.
Fluency in Spanish allows Dr. Eidemiller to directly engage with Spanish-speaking patients and their families, fostering stronger relationships and ensuring better communication during treatment.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Eidemiller is committed to giving back to the community. While living in Boise, he volunteered with an English language program, helping immigrants prepare for driver’s license exams, job interviews, and citizenship tests. He also volunteered with the Ridge to the Rivers trail system, performing maintenance and helping to keep the trails accessible for outdoor enthusiasts.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Eidemiller enjoys cycling long distances across Northern California. This activity helps him stay physically fit and provides a mental break from his demanding work. He enjoys cooking at home, especially meals that incorporate regional Mexican flavors and traditional American dishes. He also enjoys home improvement projects, where his background in construction allows him to handle repairs and upgrades independently.
