Dr. Sean A. Wempe

|Associate Professor of History at California State University--Bakersfield|

|Content Editor on the Historiana Project|

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, my work, and potential opportunities to collaborate! I specialize in the histories of modern Germany, European imperialism in Africa, internationalism, and the history of public health. In addition to my previous publications with Oxford University Press, a number of scholarly journal articles, and my teaching on these topics, I am also a content editor building a curriculum for primary and secondary students in the European Union on the history of pandemics as part of the Historiana project.

My current research projects include working on what I hope will be my third book on German and British interference in League of Nations international narcotics regulations in the 1920s and 1930s, an article on the political and cultural dimensions of Germany’s East African Tendaguru paleontological expeditions (1909-1911), an article on the 1997 Dahlem Conference concerning the standards for and feasibility of the eradication of infectious diseases, and a number of articles on League of Nations' efforts to combat Rinderpest, Malaria, and Sleeping sickness in the Mandates in Africa in the 1920s and 1930s.
