PHD. WORK

Title: Hydrodynamics and Morphology around Bridge Piers in Seepage Affected Alluvial Channel,
Under the Guidance of Prof. Bimlesh Kumar, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, India
  • Summary: Major findings of the PhD thesis:
  1. Effect of downward seepage on flow field around circular bridge piers arranged in single and tandem manner are studied.
  2. Consequences of modified flow field due to downward seepage on bed morphology around piers is enlightened. The new empirical relationships are developed for prediction of scour depth at upstream of piers and prediction of dune morphology behind piers with incorporating downward seepage parameter.
  3. The experimental observations for scour depth and dune morphology are crosschecked with the multiscale statistical analysis and found good in agreement with experimental results.
  4. For examining the effect of shape of pier the flow field and scour geometry around oblong pier is studied and compared with the single pier

MASTER THESIS WORK

Title: Development of Incipient Motion Criteria for Alluvial Channel,,
Under the Guidance of Prof. Bimlesh Kumar, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, India
  • Summary: To develop a new criterion for incipient motion relating Froude number and friction slope with the relative density of sediment particles in fluid particle size
