Hi, I am Dr Rhoda Deers, a registered Unani Tibb practitioner. I have completed a BSc: Complementary Health Science (UWC), Bachelors of Complementary Medicine in Unani Tibb (UWC), a BA (Hon) in Anthropology (UWC) and a Masters in Anthropology (UWC) and currently pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Western Cape
Unani Tibb is a Greek-Arabic ancient healing system that emphasizes that health is not only within bodily functions but also connected to the human's natural environment. In this way, healing occurs when there is a balance between human and their natural environment.
I have a keen interest in Eco-Health and am currently pursuing postgraduate studies focusing on Medical Anthropology with a research interest in food beyond its nutritive and phytochemical healing values.
I have merged my academic interests and medical practice by ensuring that my private practice has an eco-conscious approach to healthcare that acknowledges the interconnections between humans and nature.
My services range from comprehensive consultations where a specific treatment and lifestyle plan is developed to group workshops for dietary-specific meal planning for metabolic diseases and allergen-free diets.
