I am Dr Pratham Parekh, a scholar with a deep passion for exploring the intersections of society, development, and governance. My academic journey began at the Centre for Studies in Society and Development, School of Social Sciences, Central University of Gujarat, where I earned my PhD. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to rigorous research, resulting in the publication of 18 research papers in various esteemed international and national journals, along with five book chapters published by well-known publishers.
I have also had the privilege of authoring two books that have garnered scholarly acclaim: Epistemes of Death and Infrastructure Growth & Human Development in Gujarat. These works reflect my commitment to contributing meaningfully to the academic discourse on social and developmental issues. My research has taken me to numerous platforms, where I have presented papers at 22 international, national, and state-level conferences.
Beyond academia, my professional journey has been equally enriching. I have spent eight years working at the policy and governance level as a consultant with the Government of Gujarat. During this time, I played a pivotal role in developing and contributing to 16 policy intervention documents. My efforts have been recognised by the State Government, particularly in areas such as Outcome Budgeting, Gender Budgeting, Development Programmes, SDG monitoring systems, and the Chief Minister's Dashboard.
My research interests are as interdisciplinary as they are diverse, ranging across sociological aspects of public policy, governance, information technology, data analytics and visualisation, human resources management, labour laws, social policy, gender and women’s studies, mythology, medical and health sociology, and development studies.
This journey has been one of continuous learning and contribution, driven by a desire to understand and address the complex challenges that shape our society.
