*** THIS IS A HAVE LIST ***
I currently have four guys in my general player collection: Prince Fielder, Hank Aaron, Andres Galarraga and Carlos Delgado.
Anyone who was a fan of the Brewers during Prince's stint here knows he's an easy player to love. I enjoyed his personality and production even after he moved on from the Brewers - a difficult pill to swallow for a small-market team that had been very successful. And the way his career ended, with a neck injury, clearly before he was ready to retire, affected me even after I stopped following his career closely. Parallels of his 2010 Topps/Topps Chrome card, with the "bowling ball" celebration, are one of my highest collecting priorities.
Apologies to the many ballplayers who can make a claim to the title, but Hank Aaron is the greatest. A great man and a great player who began and ended his career in Milwaukee.
I became a fan of the Big Cat as a kid, early in my collecting years. I'm not even sure why I latched onto Galarraga; I suspect I liked his cool name, his cool nickname, the stat lines on the back of his baseball cards and his kind face. He also revived his career on what became my second-favorite team when the Rockies came into existence in 1993. What I've read about him in subsequent years bears out the "nice guy" hunch.
I've always liked Delgado, ever since I pulled his rookie card from a pack of '92 Bowman as a teenager. Dude always just looked cool, and I liked that his name means thin. Since then, he's become a great citizen of this planet and tireless advocate and community builder in his native Puerto Rico.
There may be a Ken Griffey Jr. collection added to this page eventually but for now I'm not actively collecting The Kid, who became my first player collection when I was a teenager.
I'm looking for any cards of these players not listed, particularly autographed and relic cards. I will take any serial-numbered cards I already have if the serial number is the player's uniform number (28 for Prince, 44 for Hank, 12 or 14 for Galarraga, 6, 21 or 25 for Delgado).
