Introduction
DropBuddy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application handles your information.
Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
DropBuddy stores all your data locally on your device only. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any of your personal information on our servers.
The following data is stored exclusively on your device:
- Personal health information (age, weight, height, gender)
- Daily water intake records
- Hydration goals and preferences
- Notification settings
- Medicine reminders (if enabled)
- Game progress and achievements
- Virtual pet status
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect personal information
- We do NOT transmit data to external servers (except as stated under "Third-Party Services" and "Subscription and trial continuity" below)
- We do NOT track your location
- We do NOT share your data with third parties (except as stated under "Third-Party Services" and "Subscription and trial continuity" below)
- We do NOT use analytics or tracking tools
- We do NOT serve advertisements
Subscription and trial continuity
To ensure your subscription and free trial period are calculated correctly (for example, so that uninstalling and reinstalling the app does not reset your trial), we use an anonymous technical identifier. This identifier:
- Does not contain your name, email, or any other personal information.
- Is used only to link your device to your subscription and trial status.
- On Android: If you use device backup (e.g. Google backup), this identifier may be included in that backup and restored when you reinstall the app. That allows the app to recognize you and keep your trial/subscription status correct.
- On iOS: A similar technical identifier may be stored in a way that survives app uninstall, for the same purpose.
This identifier is shared only with our subscription provider (RevenueCat) so that your trial and subscription status can be applied correctly. We do not use it for advertising or analytics.
How We Use Your Information
All data is used solely within the app to:
- Calculate personalized hydration goals
- Send local notifications and reminders
- Track your water intake progress
- Display statistics and achievements
- Manage virtual pet interactions
Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored locally using your device's secure storage.
- Data remains on your device and is not transmitted (except the anonymous technical identifier described under "Subscription and trial continuity" above, which is sent only to our subscription provider).
- You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app. Note: On some devices, if you use device backup, the anonymous technical identifier used for subscription and trial continuity may be restored from that backup when you reinstall the app. This does not include any personal or health data.
- We do not back up your data to our own cloud services; data is device-specific.
Third-Party Services
DropBuddy uses RevenueCat for in-app purchases and to manage subscription and trial periods. We may share an anonymous technical identifier (as described under "Subscription and trial continuity" above) with RevenueCat so that your trial and subscription status are applied correctly. Otherwise, we do NOT integrate with analytics platforms or advertising networks.
Future Updates
If we add premium features with payment processing in future updates, we will:
- Use secure payment processors (Google Play Billing, App Store)
- Update this Privacy Policy accordingly
- Notify users of changes
Children's Privacy
DropBuddy is suitable for users of all ages. Since we do not collect any personal information, there are no specific COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) concerns.
Your Rights (GDPR Compliance)
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access: View all your data (available in app settings)
- Delete: Remove all app data by uninstalling the app (subject to the note under "Data Storage and Security" regarding the optional restoration of the anonymous technical identifier from device backup)
- Portability: Data is not transmitted, so no portability needed
- Rectify: Modify your data in app settings
Since all data is local, you have complete control over your information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes through:
- App update notifications
- In-app announcements
Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Data Deletion
To delete all your data:
1. Uninstall the DropBuddy app from your device.
2. All locally stored data will be automatically removed.
If you use device backup (e.g. on Android), an anonymous technical identifier used only for subscription and trial continuity may be stored in that backup and restored if you reinstall the app. This identifier does not include any personal or health data.
Permissions
DropBuddy requests the following permissions:
Required Permissions
- Notifications: To send water intake reminders
- Schedule Exact Alarms: For precise notification timing
Optional Permissions
- Vibration: For notification feedback (can be disabled in settings)
We do NOT request:
- Location access
- Camera access
- Contacts access
- File system access (beyond app-specific storage)
International Users
DropBuddy is available globally. We do not collect or transmit personal data; only the anonymous technical identifier described above may be shared with our subscription provider for trial and subscription continuity.
