Dropbox strives for 100% up time, but this is not always possible. If you see that the Dropbox service is down on our status page, you can still access your files from the Dropbox folder on your computer. In other words, any service downtime only affects syncing and dropbox.com access.

Here is the dropbox instructions below. My issue is when using Google Chrome. When I click the grid Icon on top left corner there is No drop down Menu. Nothing happens, is dropbox doing maintenance ? Why is there no dropdown menu ?

Thanks Mark, This does help as a work around. I deal with a lot of real estate agents and I need to make it as simple as possible as many may not have a dropbox account and that's why I have stayed with dropbox. so when this feature stopped working was very frustrating. Mahalo!

I can see the copy dropbox link on some folders but not many at all - here are the menus I see - the first is for one or two files and folders only (I have thousands) and the second is what most of them have. There seems to be a whole set of different options?

The dropbox options not appearing randomly is also happening to me. Literally exactly as BPTSA Mike described except I am on an A. The fix Crash MCGee supplied does not work for me. Random for when it works and when it doesn't

it stopped working. I was able to set up enpass, but without dropbox sync. tried flathub and RPM. Tried chrome and firefox. Enpass is showing loading, after clicking allow... oh. It synced, but after like 10th attempt... and only after setting up Enpass from backup.

Absolutely, a change of scenery never hurt anyone. The flexibility that remote working offers, i.e., letting you book in that plumber for your lunch hour or head to your local dentist for an afternoon appointment can also massively improve employee satisfaction and company culture.

Just today I was using DB as normal, and attempted to find a folder for a particular job. We use a a number system to identify folders like "20-240" where 20 is the year, and 240 is the 240th job worked on. 

I was surprised though that when I used the search function to try and find 20-240, it showed as having no results. 

I manually went into my co-workers dropbox folder, and sure enough it was there, just that the search returned no results.

(It did find other years in the search such as 09-240).

I mentioned it to my co-worker and he searched as well and it also came up with zero results on his end. 

He said that just this morning, he was searching for something else and had trouble finding it as well.

I attempted a few other random numbers and discovered that 20-239 was also not showing in the search results.

I searched the community thread, and found a similar problem from (I think 2015) where someone recommended trying a different browser (I am using Chrome, and also tried Firefox) with the same negative results.

We are a group of about 3 people using mac's (I'm on an older imac, but my co-worker is using a fairly new system with all the lateste system updates). 

Can anyone advise? This has the potential to be a HUGE problem if the search is not working 100%.

Note: I usually use the web-based dropbox, but I also searched using my desktop app and it also did not find the folder.

I'm currently using v96.4.172 of the desktop app in my menu bar.

I'm running an older system software of 10.11.6 - but as mentioned, my co-worker is using an updated current OSx.


Oh and I did a search for the specific filename inside of that 20-240 folder, and it DID find that in the search results.

cleared browser cache (as I mentioned I attempted with two different browsers, one had never logged onto dropbox before), as well as my co-worker on a different computer had the same issue), and attempted the incognito approach, both with the same negative results in that the search did not work. 


The files searched for are not using the "smart sync" and are not on my local computer (they reside on my co-workers local computer (and synched to dropbox).

So I have my own portfolio site that have been working fine for several years. I was doing some updates, and notices the videos that I pull from a dropbox account no longer works. It has been working for years and just suddenly stopped in this month or so.

I uninstalled and reinstalled on iphone, the authorization and initial sync to dropbox worked. Created a new note on iphone and that note did not sync to the installs on my mac and windows computers. I didn't try disabling, then enabling, encryption. Not sure what that was supposed to do. Please keep us posted if you have a permanent fix or if you experience problem again. Thank you

I have the same issue. I had Dropbox syncing perfectly with my ReadyNAS 314 but it just stopped working a few months back. I've tried setting up the Dropbox functionality again but it mever seems to complete and is stuck in "Pending" mode on Dropbox. After having serveral forum help from the Dropbox team they could not resolve why and said to ask the Netgear community.

That's real nice huh? Netgear & Dropbox have an alliance to work together but when they can't figure why the feature doesn't work, then "ask the forum". That's crap! I paid a lot of money for this NAS and in addition, bought 5TB of space so that I could keep a complete copy of my NAS offsite (in Dropbox). My last sync was 26 days ago and I've definitely made changes locally on the NAS that should've pushed up to Dropbox. This happened once before. The only way I got it to work was to create a new share in Dropbox, "leave" dropbox in nas, and setup a new sync all over again. Then it started uploading, I had to delete my original stored copy in Dropbox (so I'd have enough space) while it uploaded the second time.

But I've already committed these changes on my other machine in, ostensibly, the same working directory. An attempt to 'git pull' from the github servers gives me the message that everything is 'Already up to date.'

Dropbox and Spideroak Hive are fine if you want to use synced directories as a working tree for one user at a time. Just make sure that your files and folders are fully-synced before accessing them from another system. As long as you stick to a single-user, single-system workflow you shouldn't run into trouble, but your mileage may vary.

The accuracy of the timestamps are especially important if you are using GNU make or other tools that rely on them. If you're going to use Dropbox to synchronize a working tree, make sure your timekeeping is accurate across all systems that will touch that tree.

When working with the Dropbox APIs, your app will access Dropbox on behalf of your users. You'll need to have each user of your app sign into dropbox.com to grant your app permission to access their data on Dropbox.

I noticed some workflows are not running once they run through dropbox and sync to my main computer. Two specific workflows that I am noticing this with are Preview Unicode and Conductor (both listed below). Here is basically what happens:

If I copy the preferences over manually from my other mac then they will work. However, then dropbox syncs the updated version and it'll stop working on the other mac. So doesn't seem like there's any option besides turning off Dropbox syncing.

I am having this same issue if I use a workflow preference file in dropbox, I have made sure to right click the folder in finder and "Make available offline" on both macs and both folders have the greek check but when I set that folder in dropbox as the preference location most of my workflows stop working.

I think the way it was working for me was because the files are (or were) synced to my laptop. I just figured out that after updating, MacOS now forces Dropbox files to be stored within a "CloudStorage" subfolder rather than directly within the Mac Library, so I think that's what has caused this to break for me. I'll have to figure out a new storage workflow. Thanks anyway!

Have exactly the same problem.. I've been working with FPCX and Dropbox happily for 3 years.. no problems.. I just make the files available offline and I open them and work without any issues with all my changes being synced in realtime. This is a big blow.. I'm dealing with huge libraries and having to copy back and forth is a major workflow hindrance now. Once again, "progress" results in loss of functionality, convenience, productivity and time.. I just spent a whole hour with dropbox live chat support to see what the issue is and the conclusion we came to was that this is a problem from Apple and not dropbox. They've forwarded this issue to their tech department to see if there's a workaround.. but for now this really throws a wrench in the works. I thought Macs were all about productivity.. Imagine how many people work directly from synced files on google drive or dropbox. I regret doing the dropbox update yesterday but I guess this was inevitable. I can't be stuck on an older dropbox version inevitably. Any suggestions for alternatives to dropbox that don't have this issue? I wish Apple would address this.. So many professionals use such workflows..

I'm curious how the users here are working with FCP and cloud storage. Dropbox and others should only be used with FCP for sharing zipped files. Media and especially library bundles should never be used with Dropbox or iCloud or any other cloud storage. This particularly important for libraries that are complex folder/database structures which should only be stored on Apple formatted or network formatted drives. Other formats don't handle this content correctly, and the unzipped material can be corrupted. ff782bc1db
