# Privacy Policy for MegaFlasher

**Last updated: September 2026**

## Summary

MegaFlasher does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal

data. It has no internet access and no analytics, advertising, or

crash-reporting SDKs. Everything the app does happens locally on your

device, over a direct USB cable to your own Arduino board.

## What the app accesses, and why

| Access | Purpose |

|---|---|

| USB host / USB device permission | To communicate with the Arduino board you plug in over the OTG cable. This is granted per-device by you, through the standard Android USB permission dialog, and is the app's core function. |

| Firmware (`.hex`) files you select | Read only when you explicitly pick a file via the system file picker, to be sent to the board you're flashing. The app never scans your storage on its own. |

| Backup / exported log files you save | Written only when you explicitly choose to save a backup or export the operation log, to a location you pick via the system file picker (Storage Access Framework). |

| Wake lock | Keeps the screen/CPU active during a flash, backup, or erase operation so it isn't interrupted by the device sleeping mid-transfer. |

The app does **not** request broad storage permissions, location,

contacts, camera, microphone, network state, or any other permission

beyond the two listed above.

## Data collection

MegaFlasher collects no data of any kind. Specifically:

- No account or sign-in is required or offered.

- No personal information is requested or stored.

- No usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports are collected.

- No data is transmitted anywhere — the app has no internet

permission and makes no network connections.

- The only "state" the app remembers is a small set of local

preferences on your own device (last selected board type,

bootloader size, baud rate, and firmware file), stored in Android's

standard app preferences and never leaving the device.

## Third-party services

MegaFlasher does not integrate any third-party SDK, analytics

platform, or advertising network. The only third-party code used is

the open-source **usb-serial-for-android** library, which runs

entirely on-device and communicates only with the USB hardware you

connect — it does not send data anywhere either.

## Children's privacy

Since the app collects no data from anyone, it does not knowingly

collect data from children, and there is nothing to collect

regardless of the user's age.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version adds a

feature that does access the network), this document will be updated

and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that. Since the app

has no update-check or notification mechanism of its own, please

check this file in the project repository for the current version.

For questions about this privacy policy, open an issue in the

project's repository, or contact the developer through the contact
