About
Dr. Nazrul Islam is currently serving as an Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India. He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis viva voce (Ph.D defense) on 21st July 2023 and was awarded the doctoral degree under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), August, 2023.
During his doctoral research at CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat, Assam, under the supervision of Dr. Binoy K. Saikia, he specialized in the environmental and toxicological studies of atmospheric particulate matter in urban areas of India. His work extensively focused on Atmospheric aerosols, PM-bound PAHs and their health risks, Aerosol bound Carbon chemistry, Atmospheric particle nanotechnology, airborne nano-mineralogy, coal mining impacts, and acid mine drainage and its health implications.
Dr. Islam commenced his research career in September 2017 as a Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the MoEFCC-sponsored project NCAP-WGIII: “Carbonaceous aerosol emissions, source apportionment, and climate effects” (GPP-0325). He subsequently enrolled in the January 2018 session for his Ph.D. in Chemical Science, marking the beginning of his academic and research journey in atmospheric sciences and aerosol technology, which laid a strong foundation for his research expertise.
