Dr Mujib Abid is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Initiative for Peacebuilding at the University of Melbourne. His work sits at the intersection of peace and conflict studies, political theory, and the modern history of Afghanistan, with a focus on rethinking dominant approaches to power, resistance and peacebuilding.

Alongside his academic research, Mujib is actively engaged in peacebuilding practice and dialogue facilitation. He works across academic, policy, and community settings to foster meaningful conversations on conflict, coexistence, and reconciliation, with an emphasis on bridging divides and amplifying marginalised perspectives.

He is the author of the forthcoming book Resurgent Histories of Afghanistan (2026, Routledge), which offers a critical re-reading of Afghanistan’s modern history through the lens of traditional knowledge perspectives, local agency and resurgent political traditions.
