I hold a master's degree in Marine Biology, with a specialty in marine conservation management. I have a strong foundation in wildlife veterinary medicine, where I focussed on animal health, surgery, behaviour, and welfare in my positions as a veterinary nurse. My passion for marine conservation has led me to diverse experiences in multiple countries around the world, including coral reef restoration in Bonaire and my current roles at the Sea Turtle Health Center and as a researcher with the esteemed Minke Whale Project in Australia.
My work is driven by a deep interest in spatial data and analyses, with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Google Earth Engine, and remote sensing with drone and satellite data. I aim to focus on the movement patterns of species most vulnerable to human-wildlife conflict, including boat strikes and entanglement in cetaceans and sea turtles. I aim to leverage my fieldwork and programming skills to map population distributions, thereby guiding the strategic placement of marine protected areas and highlighting critical high-risk zones. My goal is to deepen our understanding of marine species and foster sustainable ocean management through collaborative efforts.
